EON next drive smart V5.2 tariff
Iam not fussed about it but they say if you dont use the smart charging consistently they have the right to switch you to a more expensive tariff. I phoned their CS and they did not have a clue and said it is online tariff so they dont know more than what is on the website

EoN Smart is only applicable to a very small subset of EV / EVSE owners... Do you qualify?
My Volvo can't although my Hypervolt could with another vehicle make.
According to this https://www.eonnext.com/tariffs/next-drive/smart if you qualify you get whole house at 6.5 p / kWh between midnight and 0600 but only if you are charging the vehicle. EoN will know if the vehicle is plugged in and ready to charge via the compatible EVSE.
AND
in order to fill your car to the required level in time for the scheduled depart you may get some other slots at the same 6.5p rate again for the whole house during "peak rate times". That bit works via the App and EVSE and Vehicle talking to each other to start and stop, AIUI, and EoN doing the billing correct via the smart meter 30 minute readings.
Some (OVO I think) use data of EV power consumed from the EVSE and then re-imburse the account to give the cheap rate... with the charge starting and stopping accordingly.
Octopus is another to consider (but I have yet to get my head round their different EV tariff options).
To me that EoN Smart tariff, perhaps, may not be as good as their fixed cheap rate (7.5p/kWh now) on EoN Next drive between midnight and 0600 every day. {I'm on 7 hours at 6.7p/kWh until March}.
One would need to get a spreadsheet out with the numbers for all the options to work out if it suits.0 -
But i dont need to charge my ev every night...are you saying that in nights when ev is not charged i cant use off peak rate for household appliances between 12-6 am?0

Terms and conditions – our policies
Seems I was wrong; but why haven't you looked and read them for yourself?4. About this tariff:
4.1 This tariff offers electricity at a lower price during a daily defined ‘off peak’ period of 6 hours, and a higher standard rate (referred to as the “peak” rate) at all other hours of the day.
4.2 This tariff allows the Customer to benefit from “Smart charging”, covered in clause 6. Customers must meet their obligations in order to remain eligible for the Next Drive Smart tariff.
5. Charges and Payment
5.1 The tariff features both peak (6 AM to 12 AM) and off-peak (12 AM to 6 AM) unit rates.
5.2 When smart charging is enabled via the E.ON Next Home app, EV charging will occur at off-peak rates regardless of the time of charging.
5.3 The smart charging schedule will be visible in the E.ON Next Home app.
5.4 Charging initiated by the customer using the boost capability in the E.ON Next Home app (overriding smart charging) during peak hours will incur peak rates.

QrizB you know the eon next drive (not smart) rates off peak rates? Their website wants me to fill in a questionnaire just to show me unit rates. Any region is fine if you have them.
Although I suspect switching isnt possible anyway as part of that questionnaire is asking for car details.0 -

Although I suspect switching isnt possible anyway as part of that questionnaire is asking for car details.Sure, here's Next Drive Fixed V11 in my region (Southern):
You could always use details for a car that you're "thinking of buying" ...Edit: and here's Next Drive Smart 5.2 for comparison:
I had to tell a fib about my car (claim it as a VW ID series) to be shown those prices.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. It seems that prices vary regionally. Iam in the West Midlands and my peak rates are 1p cheaper for both tariffs.0

That is correct but I don't have a suitable car/charger to be eligible for Eon Smart.QrizB said:Paging @Reed_Richards who I think is an EON Next Drive customer
