UKCPS Leeds City Station

Received the following fine after stopping on double yellow lines outside the multi story car park at Leeds city station. Stopped for less than 30 seconds while I let a passenger out. I have no responded to the letter in anyways and would appreciate some guidance. I’m a new driver and it was my first time going to the station.

Ignore. They sometimes make court claims and then discontinue :https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6606001/court-claim-no-stopping-leeds-armouries

Alighting is permitted on double yellow lines on the public highway. They should have used double red lines if they wanted to make it a clearway, or made their contract sufficiently clear that their rules differed from the default.

And that's even before a no-stopping contract can't be read, understood and agreed to without stopping. It's the equivalent of a sign saying "if you stop to read this sentence you agree to pay us £100".

Thank you Carl, I appreciate the quick response. Ignoring it is scaring me but what you said makes complete sense, so I’m gonna give it a go. I also thought it should be red lines if it was no stopping.

If anyone else has an opinion I’d be very grateful.

I got one of these just a few days after you. Interestlingly, your says 'PoFA' at the top, while mine says 'non-PoFA'. Others on the forum for no stopping at Leeds Station are also showing non-PoFA.

Can anybody shed some light on why it's sometimes one and sometimes the other? As I understand, the whole station site is subject to railway byelaws, and as such, is not relevant land for PoFA purposes. Did OP just get a PoFA template by mistake?

OP, as long as you say you are the keeper of the vehicle (and never say that you were the driver, or offer to say who the driver was) then even if it goes to court, you should be fine.

It'll simply be based on the date the NTK is being issued. Depends how quickly they've processed it.

Either way, ignore UKCPS and only come back if you get a court claim, which won't be this year, so make sure you tell them your new address if you move in the coming years.

Same advice to you and @porgieeluv

    Ignore £170 threatograms

    Ignore clueless idiots on Facebook!
