If your Sky TV contract is coming to an end you might get a reminder e mail from Sky with the offer of a Loyalty Saver Discount of £10. This should enable your to renew the contract within 5 minutes and so avoiding any haggling. On clicking the renew button the actual truth becomes apparent. In my case the existing price remained the same until December 19th (when existing contract ends) then increased until Jan 4th when it went up again until October 2027. This amounted to an increase in the monthly fee of just under 20%. Trying to get Sky to explain this takes a lot of patience and time needless to say. Eventually going to retention did yield a positive response and I eventually got a price reduction. What I think Sky are trying to do is to lull their customers into the false impression that they are going to see a price reduction and hiding the truth that they are really getting a price increase. All that the discount does is to lessen the price increase. So keep haggling and once you manage to actually speak to someone (this is a challenge in itself) get put through to retentions and you can then actually negotiate and get a price reduction.  I wouldn't in public go so far as to claim that Sky are being dishonest but they are certainly being economical with the truth

Sky have been doing this for several years - at my renewal date in 2022 the emailed offer was entitled " Good news" LOL
I've had the latest renewal offer today - as you say - £10 off for 24 month contract OR £20 off for 12 months with no contract - but still £10 more than current deal!0
