The only things we left on were X2 fridges and chest freezer in the garage. We also have a Quooker kitchen water tap which constantly heats water (but only when hot water is used).

The tap does use a little power all the time but it is very low, around 10W.
The fridges and the chest freezer could well be a significant part of what you are looking for though, easy to check with one of those cheap energy monitors.

When the elec prices went up I started to look at where our energy was going.

I bought one of these :

Tapo P110M Smart Plug, WiFi Plug, Energy Monitoring, Electricity Usage Monitor, MATTER Certified, App Remote Control, Voice Control, Alexa Plug, Works with Alexa & Google, Away Mode, Compact Design : Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

and plugged all my electrical devices in for at least 24 hours a time and worked out which devices were using a lot of power.      The biggest suprise for me was two Sony LCD TVs that were hardly ever used and permanently in standby.  They were using 20W in standby (all TVs since 2013 can only use a maximum of 0.5W in standby).

I got the useage down from 18 kWh a day to always between 4-5 kWh including cooking (got an airfryer which saved a lot compared to the electric oven we'd used.    However, at that point there was only two of us in the house so the airfryer was good but couldn't fit much in it.

Yes, those little segments are only 30 minutes long. 200 watt-hours for each would be a base load of 400 watts. 400 watts for 24 hours would be 8.4kWh.
We generally say on this forum that you're doing well if you can get your base load below 100 watts, which means you're almost 4x that value.
You've got something (or possibly lots of little somethings) plugged in and using power 24/7 even when you're not there. You need to find it/them and decide whether the benefit of having them available exceeds the cost of leaving them on.

Yeah, sorry my bad, small screen and keyboard acting the goat, but @QrizB corrected me thanks yes 400w is not small , and it’s fairly consistent. The search goes on……

[Just as an aside, I'm aware it doesn't contribute to the point of the thread but: that's only in true standby, without any smart features turned on such as voice control or Bluetooth.]

I'd also recommend the Tapo P110.

I'm the one who found out my 14 year old American fridge freezer was using almost half our annual electricity. We had that and a chest freezer in the garage. Now realised storing mountains of "bargain" food for months on end isn't actually money saving, it's cheaper to leave it in the shops until you need it. We now manage with just a modern standard upright fridge freezer in the garage (we have built in one for the kitchen) and use a lot more fresh food.

The P110s also work as timers so one is now used for our tortoises lamps and the other is great for the outdoor Christmas lights.

We do love a Tapo P110 here - there’s a lot of occasions when those have helped people find a rogue unexpected energy guzzler!

The fridge freezers/freezer have to be your first port of call - particularly if they’re not the newest. We ended up with an American style one when we moved into the house - our sellers were happy to leave it, our old one wouldn’t have looked right in the gap and they wanted about £80 for it so it was a no-brainer really, but I confess I was twitchy about the power drain. Thankfully it’s not too bad - although I might get MrEH to stick a Tapo on it at some stage to get a definite figure - It’ll have to be him - I can’t reach the plug! 😂
