CCJ to incorrect address ?can I challenge

Hi folks,
I've found out this morning that I had a CCJ against me that was issued at the end of September (£292). It was sent to a previous address (where my car was previously registered). I had also received a fine from the same parking company for the same reason- but a different debt collection agency- which had also been sent to my previous address- I spoke to the first debt collection agency directly at the time and was told I didn't owe anything (I have a record of this). It seems the parking company have asked the debt be collected via a new company who have then communicated to my previous address and subsequently this has moved to a CCJ without my knowledge.
At the time of the offence, the car had not yet been registered to my new address hence the communication not reaching me initially.
I am happy to pay the £292 however I am very concerned this would be on my record for the next 6 years and affect my credit rating. The "ideal" situation would be that I appeal and explain that the new debt collectors have communicated to an old address (having been updated with DVLA at the time). Had I known within the month, I would have just paid! Happy to pay but I'd like to get this removed... Would this just result in massive legal fees and end with the same result?
Any advice welcome

CCJs paid within one month are removed anyway, its possible an application to set aside would cost you the same or more.1

look at step 2 half way down is the CCJ part relevant to you. From what i have seen here time is at the essence but someone will come along and help you shortly i am sure.2 -
If the ccj was issued less then one month ago you wish to just pay it2

Apologies, should have been more specific- just over a month ago- it was issued on 18/9/25...0

Don't pay it now, it will be marked satisfied but leave you unable get credit and have your existing credit limits reduced and find yourself facing difficulties remortgaging etc. The only way is to apply for a set-aside by using form N244 and paying £313. Depending upon why you didn't receive or reply to the N1SDT claim form, you might be able to recover that fee from the claimant. Do as advised above by @Smith2001uk and scroll down the NEWBIE sticky until you find: -
HAVE YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT A CCJ (JUDGMENT FOR CLAIMANT) AND NEED IT SET ASIDE?
then keep reading.
Make sure your V5C is up-to-date with DVLA - it can be done online.2 -
No worries. DO NOT OFFER MONEY.parkingmug1 said:Apologies, should have been more specific- just over a month ago- it was issued on 18/9/25...Had I known within the month, I would have just paid! Happy to payNo no no. Do NOT utter those words.
It'll be set aside due to the use of an old address and due to you doing a decent WS relying on VCS v Carr. 100% likely CCJ set aside, plus your costs repaid.
Copy others done over the Summer.
Prepare well to take your judge to Carr and to claim all your costs & get the claim dismissed. You won't end up a penny out of pocket.
You need to read & copy recent CCJ threads and crack on with your application asap.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
