How charming. You guess wrong; for once I did read. I may not have understood but I certainly did read.sheramber said:

If so and Amazon have said they are happy to replace the existing shower in its entirety then why not order a new replacement on credit and swap out the parts that you're happy to replace and send back a mix and match of the old and new shower - get confirmation that Amazon are happy for you to do that but logically they should be and gets you to where you want to be.
Is the plate and other parts are already parts of the existing shower and you are happy to swap them out?
Although if you don't so something about the new shower 'grating' you are likely to have the same problem in 6 months time.
Amazon want all parts of the item including the motor that sits in the wall. I offered for them to send me the plate and other parts that fit flush on the wall and to have just these parts replaced, which would be the best way forward and would not incurr much cost. They say this is not possible for them to do, all or nothing
Without knowing how the shower is assembled to know any different what I was suggesting was order on credit a complete new shower, then with Amazon's consent return the motor and stuff behind the wall components from the new shower and the damaged face plate etc from the old shower to make a complete unit being returned to amazon and the existing motor behind the wall and new face plate being retained by the OP so they also have a complete shower. I read it (perhaps wrongly) as being that the OP can access all of the damaged components by the statement "I offered for them to send me the plate and other parts that fit flush on the wall and to have just these parts replaced"2 -
Amazon don’t send a replacement until they get the return, and have said they want the whole thing, including the motor, back.cmthephoenix said:

Amazon are normally very quick with refunds so time it right with credit card payment dates and the OP won't be out of pocket at any point.Every generation blames the one before...

Which is exactly what I was suggesting the OP do.
