I have 150 left so will be only 75pw now. When did eggs get so expensive £4.99 for dozen I must have been asleep at wheel there and will have to source my protein back to meat I think.21k savings no debt6

Morning all
Although this meat was bought from the bulk fund, thought you might like to see it. I have calculated it will make at least 80 meals, which works out at £2 per person per meal. It also includes the Christmas Turkey which bumps up the price

Hi All
A stock up shop at our local butcher today today and another shop at Lidl. So far this month we've spent £110/£180.
Freezer well stocked and we have done an inventory this morning. We have enough in there to do us for several weeks at least.
Meals planned for the next few days:
Friday: Chicken fajitas. I am attempting to make the flour tortillas for this. I've never made them before but want to give them a try today.
Saturday & Sunday : Irish Stew with veg
Monday: Slow cooker Beef with Port and Stilton (from the recipe index at the start of this thread)
Tuesday: Possibly left overs from Monday. If not Pizza with chips and salad
I am also going to try and make my own 'Dolmio' type sauce that will keep in the freezer. Does anyone have a go-to recipe that they can recommend for this?

@TravelCrystal, that's an amazing meat haul. Where do you buy your meat in bulk?

I get it from a farm in Somerset. They deliver all over the country. No charge to deliver if you spend I think, more than £150Quantaqa said:@TravelCrystal, that's an amazing meat haul. Where do you buy your meat in bulk?

I’ve been keeping a list in the notes app on my phone, adding in amounts daily, and planning on updating my total in the thread weekly 🙂oceandreamer said:Another 11.39 spent on milk, toilet roll, and a few bits for teas. I sent DD to the shop as she will only get what I ask and not a selection of bargains like me! I'm not sure how the thread works - do we just add up as we go along? I am going to have to keep a tally in a notebook too as its just taken me ages looking back to see what I'd already spent!£14.29/£300

Happy Friday everyone!
My first time tracking grocery spends in a few years and I’ve spent £141.10 / £500.It’s above where I need to be, to get back on track I need to get spends down to around £15 per day instead of £20.I didn’t meal plan this week, so going to sit and plan this evening which will help for next week.
have a lovely weekend all ☺️8 -
Hahaha... did I think it was going to be a quiet month & a chance to cut back the budget a bit? So - we were 9 for dinner this evening, 10 if you count a 12-week-old baby. Ds3 comes home for the weekend, his twin sister decides we need a visit too, and their middle brother, wife, 4 y.o. & baby arrive after school this afternoon and we all end up having fish & chips! Madness... but I do think I'm very lucky - if somewhat broke! The Entertainment budget is going to have to be expanded - mightily!
£91.38 spent today on fresh & everyday stuff, between the supermarket, the butchers & the market. More was spent in Wales on a bulk-buy of meat for the freezer but not as much as @TravelCrystal's magnificent haul!Angie - GC Nov 25 £416.40/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9 -
@whitecatcreamsofaDOH - I love your user name!
we are just back from a few days away and I decided to get an online delivery so that we didn't have to traipse round the shops when tired and hungry. I tweaked and twiddled about with the shopping basket to get what we needed for the next few days as well as a couple of items that we can't get from Lidls. A fancy bar of dark chocolate with pink Himalayan salt did sneak into the basket - it was just too lah di dah to resist!I'm really hoping for an underspend this month by using up things from the freezer and existing store cupboard ingredients.
£57 spent. £293 remaining.9 -
Hi all, I’m not ready to commit to a budget yet as I currently have no idea what I spend on groceries but I’m going to keep track this month and then try to budget down next month. So far I’ve spent just short of £50, which is more than I thought I spend in a week, given that I’d already got batch cooked stuff in the freezer in an attempt to cut back but not necessarily keep track properly (silly, I know). Bits and bobs seem to add up more than I realised.“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming” 🐠https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6098084/discount-duck-s-quest-for-mortgage-freedom#latest9
