How to provide next day delivery?

Hi,

Am selling an item which is under this Simple Delivery. Someone wants it posting next day which I'm happy to do, but as it is under the Simple Delivery I cannot see how to allow this.

Via Evri direct it is only £3.20 for next day. I thought I could maybe change the listing to say Seller pays delivery, and increase the item price by £3.20 to allow for postage. But even if I select that it is still making me use the Simple Delivery and charging me for it.

There must be a way I can override this? Otherwise it'll be delivered too late for the buyer. Any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

    Can you select Tracked24?

Only the buyer can upgrade to a faster service and even then I think the fastest is only tracked 24. If that is sufficient for the buyer then when they go into checkout to pay rather than just pay the suggested postage charge they can open further options and pay extra.

However, I think even if special delivery had been available the buyer needs to accept that services aren't what they used to be and buying late is no longer really an option from private sellers on ebay. If they want next day (nearly) guaranteed then they need to pay extra from a business seller or on Amazon Prime.

I've acreenshotted what I can see below. I can't see any option for that? Although I may be looking in the wrong place.

As a seller you just choose the simple delivery options as normal.

When the buyer goes to checkout they can click on the postage options and then get am option to pay for 'express delivery'

You will then get either am Evri next-day label or a royal mail T24.

However,  even if the buyer competes checkout in time for you to get it dispatched same-day neither of those services are very reliable at getting it there tomorrow.

If the buyer opens an INR then you'll probably be ok as ebay usually refund them and you keep the payment.
However,  if the buyer opens a SNAD (which is what customer services will tell them to do for a late item) then you'll end up refunding them and paying for the return postage if you want the item back.

    Another option,
Select 'seller pays' under simple delivery.

Then, when it sells, get the simple delivery label (as that's the only way to get the buyers address) then send the item with your own choice of service.

You can then submit a claim form to get the simple delivery postage you paid refunded.
But be warned, I've done this several times and only around 50% of my requested refunds have ever been given back.

Also be aware that it is not easy to add your own tracking number once a simple delivery label has been generated.
The buyer may well know this and it may be a possible scam attempt.
If it's a particularly valuable or high-risk item you might want to stick with the normal ebay system.

    Is that actually true?
Customer services are falsely advising buyers to open a SNAD when it clearly isnt the case?
    Thats shocking!

I’m not sure how it would work. If something is late then an INR would be possible, if a SNAD case and seller asks for it to be returned then how could buyer do that if they haven’t got it ? The last time I opened an SNAD I was only asked how the item differed from the seller description . If it’s just a change of mind return as item was late and therefore unwanted, buyer pays return postage.

If an item has arrived but has arrived after the latest estimated delivery date then a buyer can open a NAD and return the item (with the seller paying both outward and return postage costs)

If they contact customer services about an item that's arrived late then that's what they will be told to do.

I can find the relevant link to the ebay page on this if required.

I've also had the odd time where a buyer has threatened to return the item if I haven't given them a partial refund for late delivery although I have refused on both occasions and they have never gone as far as returning the item so I think they were either just upset about the slow delivery or just trying it on!

If eBay are allowing SNAD returns for items arriving late then that is a worrying trend. I can’t see it in the FAQs or reasons for returns, but I don’t always find eBay help to be easy to navigate.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers?id=4008&st=3&pos=1&query=Returns%2C%20items%20not%20received%2C%20and%20refunds%20for%20buyers%20&intent=SNAD%20item%20late&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1146

Return an item for a refund

If you've changed your mind about an item, check the listing for full details of the seller's return policy. Most purchases are covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee, which means that if the item arrives damaged, is faulty or doesn't match the listing, you can return it for a refund – even if the seller doesn't accept returns.

It certainly isn’t an option under the drop down menu for reasons for returns which are limited to the following reasons, it would fit under ‘no longer required’ but then it would require buyer to pay return postage and private sellers can have their settings set to deny change of mind returns.

    Return request

Why are you returning this item?

Received the wrong itemOrdered the wrong item
    Changed my mind
    No longer needed
    Found a better price
    Doesn’t fit
    Item damaged
    Item defective
    Missing parts or pieces
    Item didn't match description
    Received the wrong itemselected

I would think that if a buyer wishes to return an item because it arrived late ebay would suggest 'no longer needed', unless of course the seller had guaranteed delivery and failed to deliver in time which would constitute SNAD imo.
