Reduce water bills.

We recently had notification that our DD for water was gonig up by over £20. So I got in touch with Anglian Water, filled in a short form and now we are on a different tariff that is actually a few £s less than we have been paying. Saving £23 a month.
The tariff is Extra LITE tariff.

I'm also with Anglian Water and was put onto the LITE tariff, which is essentially a 25% discount.

I read my meter monthly and generate a bill quarterly so I know the payments aren't too high. I have a payment plan by standing order and adjust the amount as I see fit.

As far as I can see with our water company ( Affinity) you need to be on a low income to qualify for discounts. No mention of any special treatment for people getting DLA.
Also it only affects the clean water supply, not the waste water.

Yes we are a relatively low income, just above the level to get other benefits. The form also gave an estimate of what other benefits we could get if our income was low enough.

Highlights there is not a common scheme running.
Mine, if you qualify for fresh water discount the waste is also discounted, in fact the fresh water co informs the waste co

I'm with severn trent, and they have the big difference scheme.  You need a household income under 23k, but higher if there are children in the home.
I was paying 52 a month and now paying 16.99, so a huge reduction

Yeah so many different schemes company to company... often with complex calculations to determine 'affordability' for household. So complex that when I applied recently I was told qualification for no reduction, she referred to her manager and changed her mind and we get the lowest reduction offered by SWW! I would potentially qualify for capped bills due to having colostomy (which I think actually saves water rather than causing excessive use but who knows)... however our bills are so low compared to the cap it would never realistically apply.

That's a very valid point, with natural low use standard tariff is often cheaper compared to medical needs tariff, the water company can run calculations to check.

Until I qualified for the 25% discount, standard tariff was cheaper for my use.
