Citroen C5 Hybrid 25 miles on full charge???
Citroen C5 Hybrid 25 miles on full charge???
I got Citroen C5 Hybrid, still under warantee. Citroen claim it does from 30-40 miles in a full charge. Most I've had is 29 miles, but average 25 at best. Citroen dealer thought it was funny I should beleive their claims, but surely they can't make fake claims??? Dealer says the battery charging is fine, but if course it's not the charging that's the problem, it's the batteries not accepting a full charge ALREADY. I know there is now some legal position protecting electric cars where they have to perform for at least 10 years but not sure whether that includes  performance
Any thoughts?

Welcome to real world range vs manufactures claimed ranges. This is not going to be battery degradation. If you drive like a nun on 9 points and you might be able to achieve the claimed range.1

Just like petrol. Range depends on many things. Weather, right foot, elevation changes.
Example going downhill will add to the range, going up hill will cut advised range compared to flat road..Life in the slow lane0

I'm talking about the range created by the car before any driving so disqualifies any driving styles and leaves only battery performance. Pretty sure this will lead to more national claims against fake manufacturer claims0

AFAIK the manufacturer's claim are based on tests under industry-standard conditions. You will almost certainly find that Citroen's "claim" carries a disclaimer explaining this, and pointing out that real life performance may vary.0

The Guess-O-Meter? Doesn't that continuously "learn" from actual driving data to date?Gobsh said:I'm talking about the range created by the car before any driving so disqualifies any driving styles and leaves only battery performance.
Probably reads low because the previous owner/dealership staff had some "fun" with it before you took ownership.3

I assume you are talking about the range the car gives you from the guessometer. This is based not only on the state of charge of your battery but on the history of recent journeys so your driving style is very much a part of that. You also say that you have never seen the claimed milage from day one so that does not suggest degidstion in the time you have owned it.Gobsh said:I'm talking about the range created by the car before any driving so disqualifies any driving styles and leaves only battery performance. Driving Styles Shm-iving Shm-yles. Manufacturers are expected to work with a degree of transparency with claims, and won't be allowed to hide it in small print "only off a cliff edge". If their claim says 30-40 that means a reasonable expectation that prudent driving would return at least 30 miles. I'll see what Citroen say.0

Plug in Hybrids = the worst of both worlds
Citroen C5 Aircross Plug-In Hybrid Review | Green Car Guide got an average 28 miles actual range on their test "at the start of winter".
On a 13.2 kWh battery that would equate to 47.1 kWh / 100 miles or 2.12 miles per kWh. Those numbers are pretty poor to be honest (but all EVs are less efficient from first starting off). Bare in mind that Citroen probably start recharging before the battery is fully exhausted (and there will either be an unspecified extra reserve capacity or that will kick in around 5-10%).
Using heaters / aircon / lights and wipers all add to the traction battery drain to some extent as it will be recharging the 12V battery to provide that (and any overnight drain from alarms etc.,).
Check the EV and PHEV forums for other owners experiences... Citroen specific forums are likely to exist. That will tell you if you have a normal vehicle or a problem.1

It means that under their specific conditions that mileage can be expected, nothing else.Gobsh said:Driving Styles Shm-iving Shm-yles.
