I have just received my water bill, but instead of every 3 months it has gone to monthly, but the cost they are now asking for, is  that of every 3 months.

So they're asking for 3 months worth of payments to be paid every month?  Ring them and tell them they've made a mistake!!

Hello, Your water charges for 4 September - 2 October is £24 (I am on Extra Lite tariff) the bill before this one was £28 for June - September, so the price is some where near the same but only for 1 month and not 3 months.

There are a couple of things here, a normal water bill for a low usage user on a water meter would probably be around £25 a month, so as a baseline the £24-28 does not appear unreasonable, but Extra Lite offers up to 50% discount off the rate, obviously for a high user the baseline figure could be much higher, and also higher if they were on rateable value. The other thing was what was the June to September period, if it was late June to 3rd September then then £28 would make sense as it would be a few days over a full month, but either way as it only ran to 3rd September it was at most two months, not three. What was the actual billing period for the previous £28?

The other thing is do you need to reapply for Extra Lite periodically? Most of those tariffs require the customer reapplies every year, so you may have fallen off the tariff.
