Maybe I have OCD?  Who knows.  But for a very long time the icons on my Samsung A14 have irritated me because I can't move them to where I want them.

On the home screen (lock screen?) I have the ones that I use the most, and that's fine.  If I want any other apps, I swipe upwards and I get 17 more icons.  If I then swipe that screen to the left, there's another 16.  And if I then swipe that screen left, there's another 13.  In other words, all my other app icons are spread over 3 screens rather than 2.

All I want to do is get it so that when I swipe my home (lock?) screen upwards, I get a full screen of icons, which I can then swipe left to see the rest of them.

Yes, I have Googled this but I still can't crack it.  Surely it's possible - but how?

Press and hold down the icon you want to move and drag it across to the screen you want it to be on.

Are you OCD enough to tidy up your screens?
Create folders for different categories, eg, News, Sport, Media, etc.
To create a folder, simply drag an icon over another and release then name your folder.

Are you on Android 15, One UI 7.0? Might be a bit of confusion here because the way Samsung access the app draw has changed.

The app draw is the place where every app that you have installed on your phone is displayed, in alphabetical order. It's accessed (on my Samsung A54) by a slow swipe up from the Home screen. It scrolls up/down continuously (not left/right anymore).

The Home screen is the screen you first see when you unlock your phone AND the screen(s) that are seen when you swipe right, right again etc.

What's on the Home screen is entirely up to you but typically it has often-used app icons and Widgets for things like clock or a Google search bar or Calendar.

Move icons and Widgets about as you want, or remove them (they are always restorable from the app draw or widget list) or add more icons from the app store.

It's one of the bits of Android functionality that hasn't changed in a decade.

Which screen (precisely) are you trying to move the icon from and to which screen (precisely).

Sorry, but I'm getting on a bit and this stuff is only just within my grasp.  Yes, Android 15, One UI 7.0.

My apps are not displayed in alphabetical order, so I guess they're all on a home screen which is spread over four pages (the one that's there when I open my phone and the other three that I get by first doing a slow swipe upwards then swiping to the left twice).

To check which version of software - Settings --> About Phone --> Software information....

You definitely DO have an app draw (as well as home screens). It's just not revealing itself as I'd expect.

Check that software version, might be a clue.

I suspect that your problem would take seconds to demonstrate/fix in person, but it's hard in a text conversation.

... Which screen (precisely) are you trying to move the icon from and to which screen (precisely).
Starting from my home screen, I swipe that slowly upwards and there's another screen with 17 icons (not ordered).  Left swipe that and there's a second screen with 16 icons.  Repeat and there's a third screen with another 13.

I would like to consolidate the 17, 16 and 13-icon screens into two rather than the present three.

When you swipe upwards onto your apps screen have you got a greyed out area at the bottom that says 'search' on it? If so there should be 3 dots at the right side and if you click on them you should get a pop up that says 'sort' and 'settings'. If you click on 'sort' you can choose between 'custom order' or 'alphabetical order'. Custom order is what you have now with the apps on different pages, if you choose alphabetical order all the apps will be on one page that you can scroll up and down to find. That should make things easier for you.
