"Usually" is the missing wordingBaldytyke88 said:Mildly_Miffed said:I'm going to take a wild guess here that he left his keys with the parking company, the car was removed using the keys, and so the insurers are pointing to that clause in the insurance.
If that is the case, then his claim is against the parking company, not his car insurer.
Or maybe he ticked the box saying his car would be parked on his drive overnight?2 -
Have your son lodged a formal complaint to the insurance company? Details will be shown in his policy document.4PostLift said:looking for info regarding insurance refusing to pay out on my sons stolen vehicle, vehicle stolen from secure parking area in Manchester while he was working abroad, case was sent by Insurance Company to Loss Adjuster who refuse to reply to lawyers letters therefore we cant go to Ombudsman, how can we take this further
They have 8 weeks to reply.
If you are unhappy with the reply or they do not reply in that time , you can take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.0 -
If you have met the criteria for a complaint and they have not started their official process, mention this too. They are super sensitive to this.0

What do you mean by deemed abandoned? Was it actually stolen, or has it been removed?4PostLift said:car was parked in secure parking area of flatted property and code required to gain access, however security access barrier was inoperative he was paying £100.00/month for bay. no keys left in vehicle nor with anyone. As he was working abroad it was deemed that he had abandoned the vehicle, however this was his office space0 -
I would presume that means the car had been left for longer than a two week holiday to the Costa Brava… possibly months reading between the lines.XRS200 said:

And possibly stolen in a multi-month window of time meaning zero chance of timely theft reporting or recovery.1 -
Maybe start again giving timelines & fully explain what exactly the above means.4PostLift said:car was parked in secure parking area of flatted property and code required to gain access, however security access barrier was inoperative he was paying £100.00/month for bay. no keys left in vehicle nor with anyone. As it is nothing like the opening post...
Then you might get some helpful answers.Life in the slow lane1 -
This is just another thread where the OP is either unable or unwilling to give all the (obviously) relevant information in the opening post.
It's a waste of time reading and/or responding to it.4 -
There is no such thing as an informal complaint... FCA requires all expressions of dissatisfaction where the customer alleges financial loss or material inconvenience/distress to be treated as a complaint. Some will log throw away comments as complaints too as the FCA guidance didnt used to require the loss component but others updated their processes when the rules changed.sheramber said:
