Another option is to get a custom made handle that is made of better material. It might cost you more than the spare part, but if it lasts as long as the freezer, it might be a better solution. I realise that this is ignoring the consumer rights you have, but sometimes it's just easier to find a better solution rather than struggling to use your rights. You might even get 5 handles made and sell the other 4 on eBay to others in your situation.The comments I post are my personal opinion.
