hi all can anyone advise
ive got a hisense freezer about 5yrs old
ive had to replace the door handle every 12/15 months at a cost of £30 a shot
ive lost track where ive been getting them from apart from my last 1 which is dated 22/7/24 from a major online replacement company
i know i'm now out of the 12months but just over 13 months and its snapped again which the previous keeps doing
im not sure if i paid via paypal or creditcard
have i got any rights before i get intouch with the supplier or take this up with hisense

Didn't you take it up with the retailer when it first happened?0

the 1 from 2024 is online on there website with the order
i could have used different sites before 2024
sure the item should last longer than 14/15months
can i take this up with hisense/parts retailer0 -
You can, but after 6 months they may ask for a report to show an inherent design flaw, which is what seems to be the case if they keep breaking. You'd have to treat each broken handle as its own case. You might get half of the value of the last one back, I assume you binned all the others?
How much would a new freezer cost? It might be better to bite the bullet. Maybe buy one last handle and sell on or donate the current freezer.0 -

It hasn't snapped again! Each separate handle has only snapped once.
This is not the same handle which snapped last year, or the one the year before that, and certainly not the one which formed part of the freezer you bought from a retailer 5 years ago.
Why has your latest handle broken?
If you think perhaps it is an aftermarket product of unsatisfactory quality compared with the original Hisense one, complain to the 'major online replacement company' you bought it from that it did not conform to contract and therefore under section 23 of the Consumer Rights Act you are entitled to a replacement. See what they say.
But - do you know your own strength?

infact you should be banned0 -
No company will be responsible for a repair you made yourself. Did you not take it up with the seller the first time it happened?0

Post a photo of the broken handle please.
How much weight is in the door?
Are the hinges working ok/smoothly?
Sorry just realised this is consumer rights....1 -
For pointing out your consumer rights?northernstar007 said:i am certainly not only foolsmd horses

On the plus side the handles are £30... ours are over 4 times the price and also fail however in our case the handle is hinged and on pulling it moves a lever which pushes on the frame helping to open it and its that lever that keeps breaking so makes the door a little heavier to open but no asthetic or safety type issues so we just live with it.northernstar007 said:hi all can anyone advise

At 5 years old whilst you have rights against the retailer of the original device you'll first find that they will deducted use from the goods and give you a pittance of a refund to end your claim and future claims and thats dependent on them not discrediting your claim on the basis that you've replaced the handle with something else from someone else.
You could attempt to claim against the retailer of the replacement handle but as it's over 6 months old you have to prove it's faulty rather than misuse etc. For the sake of £30 it's probably not worth doing as you'll likely to have to pay more than that for the report and the report may not support your case.
Handles etc may look different etc but they tend to be fairly similar and it's just the spacing between the mounting points that need to match. I'd be tempted to put my efforts into finding a different handle that would fit my fridge if I was in your shoes.0 -
Any claim would be against the supplier of the parts. Not the manufacture of the freezer. Who you can not blame for the constant issue.
I think you totally misunderstand what @Alderbank is saying. You are just replacing one part, each is a single part. It has not snapped more than once.
Maybe the issue is the source of the parts. They are poor quality. But after 6 months you need a report to prove this.
You would only be able to claim on the last one if you have binned all the others.Life in the slow lane3
