May be GP dependant, mine was quite happy to stick one in each arm, but I'm over eighty so probably within guidelinesMurphybear said:
I had no idea the criteria had changed until the surgery told me I wasn’t eligible any more. They are checking whether I can have the Covid jab when I have my flu jab.Murphybear said:
I have type 2 diabetes and still get the jab. I am 73elsien said:Only those who are immunosuppressed I think.Frontline health and social care staff are also no longer eligible. It’s been tightened up a lot.
I have to be honest, I’m struggling to see why frontline staff still get the flu jab but not the Covid one.
I’m quite keen to get the covid jab because my brother died from Covid but hadn’t had the jab. My SIL, niece and nephew got Covid but only mildly as they all had the jab

As you will know it has been on the news today about people turning up for Covid jabs, but not being eligible anymore.QrizB said:Albermarle said:

Out of interest how did you know it was Covid? Did the GP test for it ?I bought some lateral flow tests last winter, as the last of my free NHS ones had gone out of date.Got a solid response on one of those - within the first minute or so.
The reason given for tightening the criteria, is that the current strains of Covid are unlikely to make most people seriously ill, or hospitalise them.
However as you found out, they can still make you feel lousy.
I presume overall though the authorities must see flu as nowadays more dangerous than Covid.0 -
I messaged doctor to double check..I'm no longer eligible but he did say if they had any over when they'd finished he would let m have one.
Thinking that may be some time away I've booked one at Boots..somethings are important 🤔0 -
They used to allow diabetes to be on the vulnerable list but that has changed as wellAuti said:You can get it if you have certain health issues - need to go on NHS covid website to see which ones0 -
Unfortunately there are so many cut backsMurphybear said:

But having the winter fuel payment back is a massive help.0 -
I would guess someone in the DEpt of health has done a calculation, comparing the cost of people getting seriously ill/hospitalised and the cost of the vaccine.luvchocolate said:

For flu it must work out cheaper to vaccinate, but for Covid not, now it is a less serious disease for most of the public.
So not really cutbacks, but a rational cost analysis.
However if you were the one to fall ill with Covid, you might not agree with this rational approach !0 -
So much confusion about the new eligibility.
My sister in law was booked in for flu and covid at the doctors last week. She will be 75 in December...covid was refused because she wasn't 75.
I told her to check because I'm pretty sure if you're 75 by January 26 you are eligible.
So even the doctors don't understand0 -
Went for my flu jab yesterday and the lady in the queue in front of me was saying she'd had an NHS text message telling her to book a Covid jab, but the booking website wouldn't let her because it said she wasn't eligible, so confusion all around it seems2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Not as crazy as the eligibility for a shingles jab.
If you reached age 65 on or after 1st Sept 2023, you could have the jab then.
However if you reached 65 before that date, you have to wait until you are 70.
Not much logic there !
Interestingly the only jab I ever had a bad reaction to ( both times as it is a double dose) .0 -
The logic is that it phases in those that are already over the new 65 threshold so they don't all go at once plus at £200+ a pop x 2 it would be a big hit on the budget.Albermarle said:Not as crazy as the eligibility for a shingles jab.
