Covid booster

I'm 73 and just heard under 75s no longer get the free vaccination.
I know it's expensive at £99 but I've decided to pay for a private one.
My son when 39 years old had 2 heart attacks following covid.
He was a healthy young man so my reason behind paying is to help keep him well......priceless

Only those who are immunosuppressed I think.
Frontline health and social care staff are also no longer eligible. It’s been tightened up a lot.
I have to be honest, I’m struggling to see why frontline staff still get the flu jab but not the Covid one.

a 50 something friend on steroids for various reasons has been given his.  meanwhile my mid 60s OH with heart, kidney, diabetes, copd isn't allowed one.  It does seem a bit random.

It's worth a call to your GP.

My wife - asthma sufferer and on her second round of chemo had a letter from her surgery saying she wasn't eligible.   There records hadn't been updated even though her GP had made the referral.

I think it is because most Covid cases are now quite mild, whilst a proper dose of flu can be pretty horrible.

I noticed when booking a private flu jab at Tesco, that a private Covid jab costs £90. It was a package option in addition to the private flu jab (£16). It might be worth checking to see if you can pay just for the Covid jab.  I paid £95 for a private jab at a clinic elsewhere earlier in the year.
