    There’s no door or window in the way so that should be ok. The driveway is shared but it’s wide enough to mean there would be no issues with access if pipes need to be put in or dug up and replaced. It’s not used for vehicles either.
    You just need to check your deeds to see what the exact working is... the fact the driveway isn't currently used for vehicles doesn't mean you don't have to keep it unobstructed, assuming the neighbour has a right of access over the whole area.  If they don't have a right of access there shouldn't be a problem, or you might be able to get them to agree to the obstruction in writing.

    Ok thanks. I’m on good terms with my neighbours and have discussed my potential plans with them so I will ask them to put it in writing that they don’t mind.
    It’s shared access for both of us across the whole driveway.
    I can’t see anything in the deeds that suggests there would be a problem with changing the drains.
    Thanks very much for your help.

    I can't see a picture of the layout
    @Emmia

    I’ve attached the drawings now. As you can see from the thread, the layout of the walls isn’t decided yet. But I expect the main wall between the kitchen and dining room will remain where it is due to the soil pipe. The utility room will go where the current kitchen is.
    I could use a bit of the utility room space and build back in to it from the extended area if needed.

    Also, the internal size of the space from the original back wall with be 3m due to the location of the sewers (so a bit smaller than indicated on the plans).

    Any ideas gratefully received!
