Orange Mobile Unsolicited Parcel

My father has it appears been victim of some fraud compounded by poor customer services and poor 'credit checking' from orange and at the end of the day he is out of pocket and lost a day waiting for their courier. I have spent more than 2 hours on the phone, including time whne i will loose money for not being able to work.
Aparently an order was made in dad'd name to be sent to his address - not his main residential address. When i finally got to speak to orange they seemed not undually worried and thought probably a mistake and not fraud so did not think it was worth reporting to the police. Anywat to cut a long story short ...... dad had to pay a couriers 0870 number as he was out when the first delivery was attempted, he had to wait in nearly all day for the rearranged delivery and although an incredible active 85 year old he is totally bemused as to why this has happened. I have spent over two hours finding out what happened and arranging return of oranges phone (Samsung d500) and taken trip to post office to send it back.
So my gripe - orange send a phone worth maybe 400.00 to an address which spells my fathers name wrong, wrong title - he is a doctor, and a day of his time and maybe £3 on phone calls. Its cost me time - including time whne i was logged off and hence unpoaid at work - orange feel that that is no problem and normal - they say that it passed a credit check - yet admit no cc or bank details. Anyway no realy apology and no offer of some recompense to my father. Add to this unreturned calls and the like and well what shall i do?

Should i persue - mabye a £25 voucher or something?? He does not want a orange phone.
What should i do to make sure they havnt done any damage to credit and make sure they pay for that too?
I like orange and thanks to Martin have a cracking deal on line rental but am well p....d off with them.

Why did you go to such lengths and give yourself stress? I am currently dealing with something similar (not Orange). I simply phoned the sales desk (freecall) told them the parcel had been left in my house by mistake and that they were free to pick it up, I also told them that their carrier would have to phone to make an appointment to pick it up. The carrier apparently arrived unannounced at my house several times to find nobody in (they left a little card) before they eventually phoned to arrange a suitable date and time ... they did not arrive during the designated time and we had gone out by the time they arrived.

The company has threatened us but I have kept a diary and told them that their carrier will have to make an appointment that suits me and they must turn up at the designated time. I have also informed them that after 6 months I will be treating the goods as a gift since they could not be bothered to pick it up (but until then I will keep it safe for them).

That was over 3 months ago and since then I have heard nothing. So at the end of August I will own a brand spanking new several hundred pounds worth of jogging machine ... for nothing.

If goods have been delivered wrongly let the company do all the running and chasing ... often they can't be bothered.

There's nothing great about Orange - they have the rudest advisors of all the companies I have ever dealt with - and their menu options are too long-winded.

There are better deals around so don't think you're getting a good deal as they wouldn't give you the deal if they weren't making a profit out of it.

I left Orange because they couldn't manage to beat some of the dialaphone '3' deals and I have good coverage - but I have to disagree about customer services. I always thought they were great; far better than '3's Bangalore offering.

    Damn right.

Orange don't call call people to sell mobiles in this manner, but there are many of their authorised sellers who do. So although an account with Orange will show up for the mobile number, it could be another company's underhand selling tactics at fault. Without getting your hands on the parcel you may not see who else (if applicable) is involved.

Until then, treat the item as unsolicited or telephone your local trading standards for advice.
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:
