How to get energy display to show gas usage as well as electric?

Asking here because I suspect I will get a more knowledgeable and faster answer than calling Outfox...

So, smart meters finally installed on Monday, and have this little thing** telling me about my energy use. Or rather it's telling me about my electricity use as I can't get it to say anything about gas... it has a button suggesting it can do both, but when I press it, it just beeps and does nothing.

it came with no instructions and although I realise that the gas meter is battery operated and isn't going to ping me instant usage stats, I would like to get some indication if possible.

Any ideas? I'm within 5 metres of the gas meter so I don't think range is the issue...

probably will take a few days  , gas meter talks to electric hub and then the IHD(the cheap thing) of course the installer might not have commissioned it probably.

AIUI the supplier has a duty to make sure the IHD is working, so ask them for a manual and/or a return visit to fix it! But as others have said, make sure the gas meter is sending reading to your account first. It might also be worth setting up an account with Bright.

I'm with Outfox too and had the same problem. Although It seems that some are lucky and the gas will appear without further effort, in my particular case I had to contact them via chat before it worked. See  https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6613685/how-long-before-ihd-starts-to-show-gas-usage for more details - IIRC they just needed photos of the ihd itself and the guid number on the bottom.

I suppose I should consider myself lucky then! But no, nothing showing on my account, gas meter is showing as zero...

Thanks... will give it a few days just in case but sounds like I'll need to get on to them...
