How long before IHD starts to show gas usage?

Good afternoon all. We've recently had gas and electricity smart meters installed and although the IHD has been showing the electricity kWh etc from the off we're still waiting for the gas usage to start showing. I've heard that it can take a couple of weeks for a gas meter to start communicating all the way to the supplier, but is that also true for communications to the IHD?
Many thanks

Mine was the same day, but I know they're not always that quick. What model of gas meter do you have? Does it have an icon on the screen similar to a mobile phone "bars of signal" indicator?N. The WAN and HAN leds are both flashing at 5 second intervals - which from google is meant I believe to be working in a correct manner. I'm in the North, so I believe there are only the two to look at.molerat said:What are the lights on the comms hub showing ?
It's an EDMI GS 60B. Unfortunately no signal indicator icon on the meter body itself, but I did find a manual for it and apparently within the menu options I could get it to display the signal strength in dBm, but I've no idea on what would be a good signal - though the gas meter is right above the comms unit and another menu option told me that the last communication with the HAN was 5 minutes before I clicked the menu option.QrizB said:Mine was the same day, but I know they're not always that quick. What model of gas meter do you have? Note just spotted that the IHD has one message on it 'ESME commissioning completed', but nothing on the IHD about the gas meter - though whilst going through the menu on the gas meter I did find a message there saying 'GSME commissioning completed'.0

It is not uncommon for the 'engineer' to leave site after installing the meters before the gas meter has completed its activation sequence as it can take a while to fully complete downloading and activating the security certificate. If that times-out it may need to be restarted by your supplier.Fortunately, that is usually a remote process.1

My hub took days to start showing gas even then its not immediately as it is with the electricity1

The sad part is that it really can be the same day, but the scheduling for the installers doesn't generally give them enough time to get the gas meter properly set-up and so it gets left to time-out.marcia_ said:My hub took days to start showing gas even then its not immediately as it is with the electricity

About a month after it was installed it claimed I was using thousands of pounds in gas and electricity. I rang panicked to be told it was s known fault they had failed to fixMWT said:

Yeah the engineer did leave before the gas meter completed whatever it was doing - but when I went back after an hour or so the meter's lcd screen was now blank and holding the OK button showed the small amount of gas that we'd used. Going through the menu I found a messages option which when pressed said 'GSME commissioning completed', so I had assumed everything had gone through.MWT said:It is not uncommon for the 'engineer' to leave site after installing the meters before the gas meter has completed its activation sequence as it can take a while to fully complete downloading and activating the security certificate. If that times-out it may need to be restarted by your supplier.Fortunately, that is usually a remote process.
I'll give it a bit more time, but if nothing happens then I'll have to get onto the supplier to get that remote restart done.0
