How long before IHD starts to show gas usage?

I had a new gas meter installed yesterday, still no data from it.

I think as others have said it can vary, the engineers are too busy to stick around waiting for the process to complete.

Logged onto my supplier's portal last night and was very surprised to see that both electric and gas smart readings had been automatically uploaded, so was hopeful that the IHD would start showing the gas meter readings overnight. Unfortunately however that's still not the case, even after multiple reboots of the IHD, so I'll give it the weekend and see how it goes.

There is a SMETS request that support agents can send in situations like this: XJOIN. I'm not at all sure what it does, but I know that IHDs often start behaving properly soon after the request has been transmitted. A former OVO support agent wrote "This isn’t a guaranteed fix, but it takes two minutes to do. In the past I’ve been on the phone to customers who’ve advised their IHD has started working within seconds of me running an XJOIN."

IHD still hadn't picked up the gas meter by Monday morning so let their Customer service know. They said they'd pass it onto their smart meter team and it might take up to 10 working days, but glad to see that just after 9am this morning the IHD started showing the gas readings, so all good now. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Just had smarts fitted and gas was showing on IHD immediately.
