Lloyds Ultra Credit Card

For anyone who, like me, wants to make payments to their shiny new Ultra Visa account direct from another bank, you need to select 'LLoyds TSB Platinum Visa' from the available list in your banking app. You won't find Lloyds Ultra offered as an option - at least I wasn't by First Direct.1

I did mine from the Lloyds app and paid with my FD debit card ... but do remember that when entering the expiry date of your card ... despite the card saying MM/YY, Lloyds app needs MM/YYYY!xorgate said:For anyone who, like me, wants to make payments to their shiny new Ultra Visa account direct from another bank, you need to select 'LLoyds TSB Platinum Visa' from the available list in your banking app. You won't find Lloyds Ultra offered as an option - at least I wasn't by First Direct.

It’s now saying I would be accepted. Not sure what has changed.0

Lloyds Banking Group mainly use Sort code 77-29-00 Account 00000000 for all credit card payments.xorgate said:For anyone who, like me, wants to make payments to their shiny new Ultra Visa account direct from another bank, you need to select 'LLoyds TSB Platinum Visa' from the available list in your banking app. You won't find Lloyds Ultra offered as an option - at least I wasn't by First Direct.
Only the reference/card number differs as that is used to allocate the payment to a specific account.2 -
Wondering how unique I am here - anyone else having issues with their new Lloyds Ultra card?
Got the Lloyds Ultra card at the start of November.
After using it around 40 times, 1 month later, the card was declined at Aldi for a piffling amount (under a fiver). Even though it worked THAT VERY DAY at my dentist for £250 (stage 1 in root canal work) 🧐
Chatted to an agent via the app. They couldn't explain it, then they blocked the card & pointed me to a phone number 🙄
Utterly stunned.
Called the Fraud Line (as they would no longer help on chat).
Lady there was very sympathetic, looked into things, couldn't explain it, and offered £20 compensation whilst opening the card back.
Fine.
Well, not fine, but a fair response.
2 weeks later - this morning - second treatment at my dentist, and the card is declined at the dentist This time for over £400. Root canal work ain't cheap 😜
Both places are 15 minutes from my house, bone fide businesses and I cannot see why they would behave like this.
The Fraud Complaints Team are on chat now, telling me it was automatically triggered "by their system".
Oh, & that "Whenever the system detects suspicious activity, such as unusual transactions or changes in location, it immediately alerts you and, if necessary, blocks the card to keep your account secure. This process is in place to protect you from potential fraud or misuse."
The process is protecting me from nothing, and seriously hacking me off 🙄
Anyone else finding Lloyds behaves unlike any other credit card?
I certainly won't be lasting longer than the 1% cashback offer - too stressful using them.
Edit to add - and yes, they have again BLOCKED the card & need me to call the Fraud Team.
Person on the 0800 number telling me it is not them, but a generic "you were using your phone wallet" issue.
Telling me it would work again from tomorrow 🤷♂️
Sigh
Looks like it could be a monthly issue - keep those physical cards near, folks!
Complaint raised.
Plan for tomorrow, enjoy today!1 -
I've not had any such problems with the Ultra card, or the Platinum before that. I have done some chunky transactions in the 000's, never had a decline.
If it's a new account, that will feed into the fraud algorithm......but as with many of these type of posts, it can appear random and illogical.1 -
In contrast I today purchased something on a US website for shipment to a US address (a birthday present), paid in dollars and it went through straight away - not even an authorisation pop-up on the app!2

My cashback was paid on 31/120

Same, it's taken off the statement balance due in January as it's posted as a credit i.e. reduces the amount that will be taken as DD, same as they did with the old cashback cardsteven141 said:My cashback was paid on 31/12Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I usually use my Aqua Rewards credit card for all spending as I get 0.5% cashback (capped at £100 per year) and no FX fees but got the Lloyds Ultra credit card in late October and received my cashback of almost £80 on 31st December 🙂This space has been intentionally left blank2
