Recently moved to new build house, my old broadband doesn't cover, advice re: options and consumer r

Hello
I've recently moved house to a new build property - so I'm trying to set up internet. My old provider has said they don't cover broadband at my new build but can provide a sim only plan. If I choose to leave, it will be £411 in fees as it is mid-contract (end date Sept 2026). Is there any wiggle room or do I have to go down the sim only route to avoid fees? The provider is OneStream. Broadband kept cutting out at my old place but wasn't going to call for an engineer as they will charge a call out fee if no fault is found.

Thanks in advance - any advice will be greatly appreciated.

If your new build house has Openreach , then there is no reason you can’t ‘move’ your Onestream service to the new address , but if Openreach are not available there , and developers  lock out Openreach so they can install their own FTTP , Persimmon are one builder that does this but others  do as well, then you are stuck .

Its not Onestream that’s breaking the contract but you are by moving out of the address you took the contract out at ….if ETC is over £400 presumably it’s a recent taken contract , so probably not a good idea to commit to a contract if you knew you were moving (of course you may not have planned to move)

Only you can really decide if the offer of a data sim (presumably for mobile home broadband) will be good enough for your needs , but if it saves you having to pay £400 in termination charges , it’s worth considering, TBH , given the things Onestream normally do (they don’t have a good reputation) I’m surprised aren’t just demanding the £400
  • Thank you for the advice. Just to mention, I didn't say I thought Onestream was breaking the contract, I just wanted advice about what options (if any) I had. I took out the contract last August in 2024 following a comparison of companies listed on this website and before I knew I would be able to purchase a house so soon.
Anyway, looks like I don't have any options so I will accept the sim they offered and see what the service is like. Thanks 😊
