            Don't open the letters.
Write "not known at this address" on the unopened envelope and put back in the post.

Op said threatening letters which the company said they can't stop. Worth a try.user1977 said:
I can't see how receiving letters for a previous resident can ever become a police matter? Obviously if debt collectors come banging on your door, that's a different story.m0bov said:

or speak to your local plod.If the letters were threatening to repossess the OP's house, could that constitute harassment? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

The “threats” are neither criminal nor directed at the OP. Waste of everybody’s time to talk to the police about it.m0bov said:

Probably the junior on the phone said that, because deleting contact addresses - even when wrong - may be above their pay grade.m0bov said:

Not long after we moved into our new build house - with a new series telephone number - we kept receiving calls for a Mr Bloggs, re an outstanding debt. Kept telling them that he didn't live here, had never lived here, that they had the wrong number, and to stop pestering us.
When we asked for confirmation that they would delete our number from their database, junior on the phone said she was very sorry, but she couldn't do that because this was the only contact number they held for Mr Bloggs.....
 Calls ended. Eventually.0

Don’t open them or throw them away. And certainly don’t involve the police! Just return them to sender with “no longer at this address” written on the envelope. It’s a faff but there’s really nothing to worry about. I had something very similar when I bought my house. A coupe of months of return-to-sender did the trick and They’ve now stopped.

If they aren't addressed to you personally, they can't be considered harrassment.
This is how TV Licensing work with their endless stream of threatening letters sent to my address FAO "The Occupier". More than 50 since I moved here in summer 2021.
Just bin them, you tried the RTS, it didn't work.Signature on holiday for two weeks2

Just run that past me again, please. The letters are addressed to the occupier. You are the occupier. I’d say that they are addressed to you. The thing is that people are so used to these silly letters that they probably wouldn’t be able to prove that they were actually harassed by them!Mutton_Geoff said:If they aren't addressed to you personally, they can't be considered harrassment.
