Samsung/Lebara VoLTE setting

I have a A14 4G. Lebara sent me an email to say VoLTE is now available but nowhere on my phone settings (I've gone all over) is VoLTE or LTE (in any guise) shown. Is it automatic and defaulted? How do I prove I have it available now? thanks. PS NOT a Samsung A14 5G, my phone is a 4G version Android 15 and OneUI 7.0.

  • On my Galaxy (Android 16, OneUI 8) the setting is under Settings --> Connections --> Mobile networks BUT only for my Sky Mobile eSIM. There's no switch for my primary full-fat Vodafone service but have to assume that this is on.

This setting (or rather it's visibility) is driven by the network so it's possible that it's working but no indicator as such.

Someone may be able to suggest an app that can analyse what bands/modes your phone is using during calls but one way to tell if VoLTE is being used is that you can call & use mobile data simultaneously.

Otherwise, if you can make calls satisfactorily then don't sweat it - phone works.

As VoLTE is the default calling service nowadays (and for an increasing number the only calling service). Most phone providers / manufacturers don't even show the switch to turn it off.

The best way to tell if it's working is to go somewhere away from a WiFi network you've connected to and make a hands free call.

If you see the signal.indicator drop to 2G or you can't use data then you have a phone without VoLTE
  • Just made a call with WiFi off to force onto mobile network. "HD" appears on the call in-progress screen, Google says this means that VoLTE is working at both ends of the call.

It isn't enough to turn WiFi off, because from Android 14 upward WiFi can turn on automatically for a call (and some other circumstances). The only sure way to test is to go out of range of any known networks.

If the OP is interested in finding out if VoLTE is working for them, then they may not see the HD marker if the other person isn't using VoLTE . So best to use the method I mentioned which will work in all circumstances, including phoning a landline or even voicemail.
