in Water bills
Same here mine raised by 50% I called them, even had them check meter twice and the men who came to check the me meter said my water usage was consistent. Whatever is going on in that company is unacceptable.

Are you saying you water USAGE or your BILL has gone up by 50%?
Thames Water is in severe financial difficulty, so they need your cash and the regulator has approved a large increase which will be reflected in your bill even if your usage remains unchanged.1 -
Thames Water's average increase is 31%:That isn't to say there's anthing incorrect with the OP's bill increasing by 50%. It's possible they have arrears to clear. I think all water prices have gone up significantly. Mine have gone up by almost 30%, nothing to do with usage. Also the more people they get on meters the higher the price the metered rate will have to be.0

Our bill went from £15 to £42. I looked at the amount used and calculated what a year's water costs and divided by 12 to get the monthly payment amount. That was £31. I rang and asked why they wanted more than what I needed to pay and no explanation was forthcoming. We agreed that it was fine for us to pay £31 rather than the £42. I think they are like the gas/electric companies asking for more "just in case".I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Without knowing the context it means nothing.
For example, you could have been paying too little and built arrears and need to clear them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). it’s utterly disgusting I contacted them myself and all I kept getting was company policy this company policy that through a call handler with a heavy Indian accent I could barely understand.
I hope Martin takes this to the prime minister because he promised that utility companies would not be allowed to pump up the bills unjustifiably and if they did, they would have to return the money.
