I have an S10, great phone but the last system update I had was on 31 March 2023. So if you are going the 2nd hand route, check how long it will still be getting updates.Myci85 said:I recently upgraded from an S10 that I was very happy with to an S20. I bought a good condition used one from Cex and am very happy with it, you wouldn't know it wasn't new, and far more reasonable in price. Good size, not too big or too small, and I don't need the latest phone when I mostly use it for WhatsApp and photos.
I would have happily stuck with an S10 but good condition used ones seem harder to come by now.1 -
I'm in a similar position, but I'm checking the security support on each model that is of interest before buying this time:

It is also worth checking some of the YouTube review channels too.

Thanks for all your recommendations. I think Ive decided to upgrade to a S20.
Is migrating all my contacts, whatsapp, files, emails from my old phone to the new phone straightforward? Anything I need to bear in mind? I presume my sim card will fit in the new phone.

Samsung’s Smart Switch app handles almost everything: contacts, photos, WhatsApp data, messages, apps, and even home-screen layouts. You can do it wirelessly, or faster via USB-C cable between the old and new phone.
NB S20 series is from 2020. Even with Samsung's extended support that's a clunker, you'd have to expect a degraded battery, scarcity of parts to repair and pretty sluggish performance.1 -
The S20 goes up to Android 13 so will not receive any more updates (latest version is 16)
Both phones use a nano sim card so no issue with switching it over. Assuming your contacts etc are backed up to your Google account then the Samsung software will automatically transfer everything across except for WhatsApp.
You must back up WhatsApp via your old phone before moving everything across to the new phone and then restore the app and files back. Open WhatsApp and select 3 dots top right. Select Settings and scroll down to Chats. Chat backup is there.1 -
Thanks!
(I hadnt even thought about backing up my whatsapp!!)
Since my post earlier this mroning, Ive decided to increase my budget a little and get: https://uk.webuy.com/product-detail?id=SSAMS926B256GOBUNLC1 -
If you are now looking at a larger screen phone at around £400 then I recommend the latest Samsung Galaxy S25fe.dllive said:Thanks!

It's currently on promotion with Voxi (part of the Vodafone group) at £378 plus £10 for a sim card. You phone up and cancel the sim card order ASAP and there is no charge. I've done this myself and there are no issues. This is a brand new UK sourced phone.
You can also claim a wireless charger, case and earbud headphones as part of the promotion from Samsung.1 -
I know the screen is larger than you originally wanted but you could move away from Samsung and go a bit left field and get less bloatware and a very "clean" OS.
It was an absolute doddle to transfer everything from my older Android phone, you just need to have a Google account.

It might just be the best £289 you'll ever spend.0 -
That's a crazy deal, near enough half price + £100-ish of extras.Neil49 said:
