    Hi all,

I'd already paid them £600 so it's only another £96.12 but given how poor they were... (the solicitors for my new purchase are both slightly cheaper and far more organised/communicative).

I'm interested that you're getting on better with the new firm of solicitors. I was going to say something trite about not choosing the cheapest firm, but apparently the new firm are both better and cheaper! :)

There's a lot of mundane work involved in conveyancing, and most of it is done by non-solicitors. That works pretty well until something comes up that requires more expertise.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Yeah, that’s what was most disappointing. They’re a relatively large regional firm and nowhere near the cheapest quote I got (one of the pricier ones) but they came recommended.

i think I just got unlucky with who was given my case. That and they clearly hadn’t forked out for case management software that would have automatically updated me and saved them time/helped them to be more organised/responsive.

Everything was paper based, new firm I upload everything online (they’re also local).
