When I go to Facebook I get loads of old stuff and adds. I can live with the adds and sponsered bits but why do I not see up to date things. Is there something I can do to rectify this?

You can try using this for the URL: www.facebook.com/?sk=h_cr - but it doesn't work as well as it used to.
You can also look at installing a browser add-on called "FB Purity" to help, but FB are quite active at changing the order that the feeds work in, and sometimes there doesn't seem to be any logic other than driving more adverts. Sometimes I find it very frustrating, but if you want to stay on FB you have to put up with it.
Another site, Nextdoor, allows you to set the post display order to "newest at the top", but warns you that the setting only lasts for 90 days. No idea why, it's just irritating, but if you get fed up of some of the opinions on FB, steer clear of Nextdoor as it's far, far worse.0 -
Taken from the internet:To resolve
Facebook not showing the latest posts in your timeline, try these steps: Refresh your feed, clear your browser's cache and cookies or app data, update the Facebook app, restart your device, and check your privacy settings to ensure posts aren't restricted. You may also need to change your feed settings to view "New Posts" instead of "Most Relevant" and consider adding friends and pages to your "Favorites" for higher visibility in your feed.
Common Causes & Quick Fixes
Refresh your feed: Close and reopen the Facebook app or browser to refresh the content.
Restart your device: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches.
Update the app: Ensure your Facebook app is up-to-date, as outdated versions can cause issues.
Technical Troubleshooting
Clear cache and cookies: Corrupted browser or app data can prevent new posts from appearing.
On Mobile: Go to your phone's settings, find Apps, select Facebook, go to Storage, and tap "Clear Data" and "Clear Cache".
On Browser: Clear the cookies and history for your web browser.
Clear app data (Android): For a more thorough fix, you can completely clear the Facebook app's data and then reinstall the app.
Feed & Privacy Settings
Change feed settings: When viewing your feed or a group, look for a filter or drop-down menu that might be set to "Most Relevant". Switch it to "New Posts" or "Recent Activity" to see all updates.
Check your privacy settings: Ensure that the posts you're expecting to see aren't set to a restricted audience like "Only Me".
Manage Favorites: Add friends and pages to your "Favorites" under content preferences to ensure their posts appear higher in your feed.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I have the same problem and have had no success in ordering Newsfeed to newest posts. HOWEVER, I have found that I can see set to "newest" if I'm looking at my actual groups newsfeeds.0

FB sadly has a mind of its own!I have a few groups 'pinned' but the one at the top of my list *never* appears in my newsfeed whereas a couple that aren't pinned bombard me with their stuff. It's also much worse on the app on my Android phone.0

This is normal for Facebook these days. When I look at the home page, the first post will typically be from one of my friends or a group I'm in, and everything else is random content (including ads) that FB thinks I'm interested in.
If you're on a computer/laptop, then the FB Purity add-on that another poster mentioned is brilliant. Facebook does break it from time to time but the developers are really good at getting it going again.
If you're on mobile, try going to the Feeds section where you can view just posts from your friends, groups, pages etc. You do still get ads but it's not as overwhelming.Credit card debt: £8530 £8071

Facebook has a mind of its own, my experience on the pc is totally different to the experience on a phone. Every now and then it asks if I want to see more or fewer posts from a certain group, I'm admin for the group, I want to see all of them!Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Having got fed up of "top stories" I 'snoozed' my AAP group that seems to dominate my newsfeed (despite it not being 'pinned')Just looked in again and guess what, yes, still plenty of posts from the AAP group!0
