So we have a new 2025 Honda HR-V hybrid and are very pleased with it but I want to fit a tow bar to tow our small trailer to take stuff to the tip.
But I cannot find one anywhere!
Any suggestions?

    Google searching indicates they're available...

It will be a bit like dog guards you won't find them for new models either. You'll just have to wait and see if someone starts fabricating them. (I assume Hinda doesn't?)

Try the dealer, A tow bar for my 5008 was only available from Peugeot direct, as has an adblue tank.

A lot of the newer hybrids are not rated for towing at all or have a very low towing capacity - so best check first.

The Honda HR-V eHEV isn't rated for towing any weight.

    Look on your VIN plate.

    There are four weights.
The first is the GVW, Gross Vehicle Weight - the maximum weight for the vehicle alone.
The second is the GTW, Gross Train Weight - the maximum weight for vehicle plus trailer.

If they're the same, you're out of luck - it's not been type-approved to tow. It would be illegal to tow any trailer. You could fit a towbar for a bike rack, if you could find or make one to fit, but nothing with wheels touching the ground.

    https://www.pfjones.co.uk/tow-bars/honda-towbars/honda-hr-v-towbars/honda-hr-v-2015-2021-towbars.html
PFJones list towbars for the 2015-21 HR-V, but the current HR-V was launched in 2021, so an up-to-2021 bar would definitely not fit. It uses the same platform as the post-2020 Jazz, so one for that MIGHT fit, but you'd still have the legality issue - and quite probably issues around the rear bumper, since the HR-V looks to have a longer overhang.

If it IS type-approved, but the aftermarket don't sell one yet, then you're probably looking at dealer-only.

Goudy is likely correct, you can't get a towbar because you legally cannot tow on the road.

To check, simply look at the second page of your V5 the towing weights for braked & unbraked trailers are marked on it. (or not if you can't tow)

To satisfy yourself, have a look at your VIN plate.
If you can tow it will have a maximum train weight on it.
    It should have 4 weights:
    (A) Maximum gross weight of the vehicle
    (B) Maximum train weight = vehicle + trailer
    (C) Front axle maximum load
    (D) Rear axle maximum load

    Trailer weight = (B) - (A)

    (C) + (D) > (A) because you might not load the car perfectly without a weighbridge (either axle can be at the max. but not both as you would be overweight)

My electrocar cannot tow anything, and VR means it was built in France.

My Suzuki can tow 1300kg (as confirmed by the V5) and J means it was built (properly) in Japan.

Incidentally, JDM imports do not have the weights on their JDM VIN plate, so they cannot tow anything, even if it is a Pajero or something, there will be nothing on the V5 either.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
