EasyJet planes collide on tarmac

Hi. I feel I need to share this. You may recall seeing it on the news. My daughter was due to fly from Manchester to Paris with EasyJet on Friday 15th August. Whilst taxiing out to the runway her plane clipped wings with another EasyJet plane resulting in significant damage to her plane and a 5.5 hour delay. She wrote to EasyJet for compensation for her delay and incredibly was told it wasn’t EasyJet’s fault and that she would not be entitled to any compensation. Unbelievable really. Surely this is as clear cut as it gets isn’t it ? Any thoughts or advice ?

Did air traffic control make a mistake and send one of the planes the wrong way?
Did one of the pilots not follow the instructions of air traffic control?
Planes dont have good is ability for driving around on the ground which is why they are instructed by ground staff and air traffic controllers. There is at least some scenarios where it won't be their fault.0 -
Isn't it EasyJet's contention that the plane(s) were under instruction from ground controllers and therefore the collision was their fault?
I've also seen this contention declared to be utter rubbish since the positioning of the aircraft at any time that the pilots are at the controls is the responsibility of the Captain.0 -
