Sharesave Scheme CGT

Hi, looking for advice on the following: I have a sharesave investement which is maturing  December and I will be transferring shares to a stocks and shares ISA  and need to know if I need to keep the ISA for 12 months or until the new financial year [2026] and will I have to pay capital gains tax on any profit from the sharesave scheme? Thanks in advance

If it is a SAYE Sharesave scheme, you can transfer shares up to £20K directly into ISA at the end of the term. Providing as this is done within 90 days, and the correct procedure is followed, no capital gain is chargeable on any subsequent sale from the ISA.

You can sell the shares as soon as the appear in the ISA, there is no need to wait.

Furthermore, if your total sharesave value exceeds your £20K 2025-26 ISA allowance, you can use a flexible S&S ISAs transfer, sell, and re-fill the ISA multiple times within the 90 days, allowing you to transfer far more than £20K through the ISA with zero CGT to pay.  :)

It really depends on how much profit you believe your scheme will make. If less than £3k total gain there is no tax to pay anyway. If less than £6k (and you are married), you can split the shares between you both on scheme maturity and use both your allowances without needing any ISA's.
