This is 100% correct. Mark my words.
Can you let me know where you got your crystal ball?
Land Registry at last data to end of nov say prices are still going up... fact.
What happened in December nobody knows yet. Last figures released this week say last years house index is stillon for 8% or so i think it was.
I'm not saying we wont have a bit of a drop, no doubt we will, but a 40-50% crash?? you guys are dreaming.0 -
Also, it depends on where you are. Are houses in Chelsea going to be significantly cheaper next year? Probably not. Are houses in Hull going to be cheaper? That is perhaps more likely.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0

I don't need one mate.
20 years experience of buying/selling houses and a bit of common sense is all I need to tell me the present situation is unsustainable.
I will repeat it again - this time next year houses will be cheaper than they are now.
This is 100% correct and guaranteed.*
(and by the way, this would be a good thing not a bad thing)

Maybe/maybe not when you talk of those chelsea-type areas. But I'm not talking about the super-wealthy.
I am talking generally about normal houses bought by normal people earning normal wages.
These prices will be lower next year.dolce vita's stock reply templates

As far as I know the Land registry data is generally a couple of months behind. I myself cannot see a 40-50 drop. With talks of the Bank of England going to lower interest rates and the average wage increase now at 4% http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7171157.stm Should be some interesting times ahead0 -
I'm sure that this property ramping will go on till the bitter end, even when YOY falls are showing. Estate agents are already starting to go under.

That's what they said 6 months ago.
Now look at it: http://www.propertysnake.co.uk/site/postcode/sw30 -
Estate agents in our area are telling us the same.
It seems that confidence is beginning to creep back into the housing market as the BoE hinted that more interest rate cuts are on the way.
Shares in lenders and housebuilders reported a rally after Christmas.
One cut does not suggest a rush of them just an adjustment.
Surely you do not want more cuts - who is that going to help?0 -
My dd put her house up for sale at the end of oct. This week they are having a second visit by one buyer, who has sold his house and a first visit by a buyer in a similar position. I have also noticed sold signs going up around us
Mark my words, there will be a real scramble for houses soon, maybe started by people who have to re-locate and want to get their children into good local schools as soon as possible
kittie, may i suggest you don a tin hat if you come on this forum saying anything other than a huge price crash is inevitable.
the lynch mob will be looking for flaming sticks and pitch forks as we speak :eek:0
