Retrospectively claiming carers NI credits possible?

My mother is mid 80’s in receipt of her state pension. She cared for her brother and father for two separate periods in excess of 10 years. We urged her to claim carers allowance at the time but she refused. Her state pension is roughly 60% of the full amount, she would have obviously received credits had she been a carer for the periods and of course her pension would have now reflected this. Is she able to “retrospectively” claim NI credits ?

OP previously posted on the Pensions board and was advised to come over here - I'll suggest that the threads are merged
Retrospectively claiming NI credit for a carer? — MoneySavingExpert Forum0 -
I think the first hurdle would be to establish whether the father and brother were in receipt of any of the qualifying benefits that would have entitled her to claim carers allowance. If they are now deceased DWP may no longer have their records which could make it tricky.

Thanks - both were in receipt of qualifying benefits whilst alive, both died some years ago - we have a final probate account letter from the solicitor showing a last attendance allowance payment being made into one of the accounts for her father but all other paperwork was sadly destroyed on their respective deaths.
ive tried to contact the DWP about this but rhey need NI numbers and we sadly no longer have them.0 -
