Benefit forum posts quite often become 'share of the cake arguments' !

From what I have seen, there are large numbers of people being paid too much in benefits and some actually say that they cannot spend what they receive. And they become worried that the benefit money accumulated will lead to savings exceeding benefit entitlement thresholds. And then there are large numbers who struggle to pay for essentials.

The whole benefits system needs to be reviewed and the legislation going through at the moment is just the first stage.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Hey, its ok. Just a lot of pressure going on at the moment here, and has been for many years and I'll keep on top of it.. and sometimes you just get frustrated with the lack of help in general from the NHS and the lack of support you get from the government when you can't go to work... and the only thing you are doing is trying to keep somebody out of a care home which is not exactly cheap anyway.

So sometimes it feels like you're losing the battle, but you keep going because of the fact that, its your own family.

I just thinking many years of doing this role after having many years of being someone who went to work, and just enjoyed myself afterwards... I've had it a lot better than some others.

Just when you look at the situation from a financial point of view, I just don't understand how the government let this happen but yet spend money in other places where it's not even as important considering how much we are saving them.

But obviously, I see your point... it's the people making the rules that are the issue.
We all empathise with your situation.
Just be careful with your views. As per top of this forum.

I wouldn't really say what I said is political, but, agree, there's no purpose in continuing a certain type of point of view.

At least when a person is in employment because they can, they don't have to worry about how much they are saving or people looking through their statements... especially when you're just getting a small amount, it's almost like they don't give you that much, but  expect/demand you to reveal all your information just in case you're doing something dodgy.... seriously something strange about this system.
And I definitely wouldn't be part of it if I had a choice

I don't really use forums regarding my caring role until recent, but in this situation, I think it's helpful.

I have done a lot of reading about benefits and never needed to claim them until I became a carer essentially there were times when I was younger than I didn't work, but they didn't give me much because I had savings which I found unfair.... or if they did it was for a limited period of time.

This is why I would say that when you have a system that is means tested but then people are somewhat made to spend that money on stupid things because they are getting too much in benefits as mentioned above, and then you have carers who can't make ends meet but, they can't go to work, I definitely agree the whole system needs to be looked at.

Somebody from the DWP once said to me they means test because they 'only want to give it to the people who needed it the most as a last resort' she said,  that's the purpose....hmmm

Well, we all know that isn't working out.

The sticky at the top may even be more applicable.

Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!
