I’m not sure as it doesn’t state affordability checks it definitely mentions identity when it comes to the bank which is why I was confused as I had already provided my passport, if it had said affordability checks I wouldn’t be here asking the question as that would of made sense but to ask for my passport provide it then ask to access my bank for identity again seemed strange unless they link the two together or do some kind of further identity check using the bank system.martinbainbridge1975 said:

Put yourself in their shoes - Would you lend money to someone without carrying out due diligence? That is what they are doing. Not happy then ask them - you are trying to borrow money from them not us - our opinions do not count0

That’s fine it was just the fact they wanted access to my bank information for verification purposes yet they had already taken my passport and I assume checked electoral roll information so was just concerned why they would need bank access also, I would be interested to hear from others who have actually applied was it the same process for you too?.

Checking the bank info on your credit record isn't that unusual and possibly your passport ID which obviously gives your name and date of birth may not have been sufficient to pin point which "tomxlisa" you are. I'm sure you would prefer that they know you're the tomxlisa that has a clean credit history and you get the credit rather than they think you are 10 other tomxlisas who are high risks for credit.
They would not be able to actually look at your bank statements as your bank would not allow that. But what's on your credit history is public information.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards.
