Not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if not, but I’ve just applied for creation finance with curry’s did the eligible checker and it said yes and showed me a credit limit, anyways further in the application it asked for my passport for identity which I found strange as never had this before unless opening a bank account, going forward it then wanted access to my bank account apparently identity checks again, anyone else had the same when doing this application, my phone went wrong and the page closed so didn’t go through with it but is it all normal, they say it’s identity check but they just had my passport, seems strange?.

Well, I lost count of companies that have a copy of my passport of my driving licence. So, it's hardly a surpsurprise that when offering you a credit facility remotely, not in person, they want to do more thorough checks than just seeing a copy of your passport.tomxlisa said:..., they say it’s identity check but they just had my passport, seems strange?.1 -
Yes I guess just strange how they said identity check when they already had my passport on the application, found that rather sneaky that they then wanted to snoop into my bank for apparent identity checks.0

Like I said though I had already provided my passport surely that should be all the identity checks they need.0

They had a passport but how could they possibly know it's yours without doing further checks?0 -
Would assume the details they would get from it would match up etc, it’s the first time I’ve been asked for this info doing a credit check anyways unless opening a bank, would of thought they’d get identity checks from the electoral roll etc.0

How can they make sure that YOU are the the person in the copy of the passport, on the electoral roll etc.?Did you read the link?Unlike traditional identity verification methods that rely on document or face scans, OneID reuses the data that has already been stringently verified by banksThe only question is how 'stringently' this was done by the bank.

I don't recall being asked for passport ID for curry's having used the bnpl numerous times.
driving licence number and bank details yes, but not passport might be worth double checking0 -
They asked for my passport for apparently identity purposes and then asked to access my bank account for identity purposes again, strange.
