Metal railings and brick - colours!

Hey everyone,
Our metal railings, currently satin black, like nearly other set of railings, are in need of a repaint (rusty in places).
My wife's keen to not rock the boat, and go for black again, I however, feel this is a bit boring, and going to all the hassle to repaint for it to only look spruced up a bit is of a wasted opportunity!
Has anyone painting their railings other colours and got anything to offer?
For what it's worth, our patio is natural slate, we have a good number of plants, mostly everygeen shrubs (Rosemary, tea tree, pieres etc) and I'm in the middle of painting the front door 'Goblin' https://www.littlegreene.com/goblin
I was tempted to match it, but my wife was far from keen!
Yep, I know black is the safe and sensible option but I just want to explore my options (yeah, living dangerously!)

We've got purple window frames on our garden room, and when we have our metal garden furniture spruced up, we're probably going to have the same colour, so I say go for it.What's the worst that can happen? You don't like it so you have to slap a coat of black on top.Make £2025 in 2025

Well, I know my wife doesn't like the same colour ad the front door, so that'd be a very dangerous/foolish option.. But she's open to something other than black, I just need to find what!0

I suggest you don't go for anything too light in colour, eg white. Our old neighbour had a wrought iron garden gate that had been painted white. Looked awful when it started to rust. A darker colour will make any rust look less noticeable.Make £2025 in 2025

Depending on the style of your railings could you paint part of them with a metallic gold or silver paint to contrast with the black?1

No picture go hand, but think conventional brick wall with conventional mortar and the black railings you see everywhere, between the bricks, so like 40-50cm high.
Current thinking is along these lines
https://www.littlegreene.com/obsidian-green
https://www.littlegreene.com/purple-brown
https://www.littlegreene.com/chocolate-colour
I essense to the untrained eye, it'll probably look black, but I'll know it's not, and will hopefully appreciate the subtle difference.. Or perhaps not!
But all the lights are low in the house at the moment and my eyes are tired, so a terrible time to review colours lol, I shall look fresh in the morning.

I think those colours are worth a go. The worst that will happen is that they'll look a bit "odd" somehow and you'll repaint with black!ChilliBob said:No picture go hand, but think conventional brick wall with conventional mortar and the black railings you see everywhere, between the bricks, so like 40-50cm high.

Alternatively, perhaps something like this might work?

Blimey, that's a bit posh! Na, I did think about that when I saw it opposite my folks the other day (100% not a posh area!), I'd be a bit perfectionist though and get annoyed if it looked naff!0

Depending on your railings design, you could do a similar (more subtle) effect with one of your non-black colours, on black railings.ChilliBob said:Blimey, that's a bit posh! There's a house I walk past every so often that has very dark bronze (almost black, but not quite) metallic balls on the tips of their railings (which are otherwise black) and I think you could do a similar effect.0 -
So, in the (almost) daylight I've looked over the colour's above, Obsidian Green I reckon.
A picture, to give you an idea.
