Hello @Muttleythefrog If my review is complete now will the system have updated any payments due to me when phoning the main number/ automated line?

I wondered about phoning the main line and if the automated service will be up to date with any changes made? I remembered it asks some details to confirm ID, then it proceeds to tell you your next payment. Is this a way to find out if it changed, or will it stay the same and take some time until the system updates (if there are any payment changes)?

I'm asking as I phoned and the automated system said the payment was the same as what I was getting before (which would be good), so have a hope nothing changed. I'd be relieved if it's the same anyway to say the least. My only slight concern is if there were changes and the system is delayed in updating if there were changes? I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Sorry if that's a dumb question btw but thought it may be relevant. If anyone else knows that'd be appreciated.
  • As it's an automated process then once the review has been completed, then everything should be updated including the next payment amount, but it's not 100% certain as doesn't account for any lag there could be.

No such thing as a dumb question, if you dont know you dont know.  I am sure the majority of people on this board would be happy to see questions rather than have people struggle.

Oh and if we think your overthinking then you’ll be told, nicely of course (which I dont think you are) You dumb question is 100% a natural one.  Your anxious about the outcome, which everyone would be however reading between the lines of your post, I am seeing that your anxiety is one of your conditions and so where most people will be able to control their anxiety to a degree, yours if magnified.

So as a result, rather than wait on hold you called the automated line - sensible and reasonable way to get the answer most of the time, but then you ask how up to date is the automated line…again perfectly reasonable question.  So really not a dumb question at all.

I cant answer that question (Sorry) but the best way is either phoning PIP and asking or waiting for your letter.  Both are methods that will somewhat cause anxiety.   Is there someone who can help you call?

However which ever you choose the outcome is the same, there is nothing you can do to influence the outcome now, so be kind to yourself which ever way you proceed.

  • Thanks for your reply @HillStreetBlues.

I was afraid there may be some lag/ a delay and the true amount (if any) not yet reflected in the system. I hope it is and had wondered if people had used that method before or not. I guess I have to wait and see but post is taking a while recently, but guess I'll have to wait a bit longer. I appreciate the response.
  • @peteuk Thanks for your reply.

I was a little unsure if I'd phrased my question correctly and people may not know what I meant, but obviously it was understandable so thanks and for the reassurance and that it wasn't a dumb question.

Yes it's hard to control anxiety when waiting on this. I think today's been less anxious than usual hence why I thought I would ring and check when in the frame of mind.

No need to apologise if you can't answer, I appreciate your reply and suggestions and they're good. I could get help to call or maybe could psych myself up on one of my less anxious days. The reason I'd be hesitant to do so ATM, is that it says in the text "You should receive your letter in 2 weeks. do not call before you get the letter as we won't be able to tell you your decision", so unfortunately I may have to wait a bit longer, and only if gets near the end maybe I will ring.

I have waited this long so guess it's a bit longer although post has been very late recently, and that feeling of not knowing your fate is horrible, as I'm sure you and many will know. Also, this time it was different and paper review only so I'd not had that before and this more unknown, even though people say that may be good news, it's unchartered territory.

Even though it's difficult I will try and distract myself a bit longer and hope it arrives fairly soon, and hopefully it's good news. I'll try and keep it updated anyway in case anyone ever stumbles across these posts. Sometimes people may have similar questions/ already asked them but sometimes conclusions are missing.

Again, much appreciated and the tone of your response was also very kind. Thanks for that too!

When was your last PIP payment?  Just thinking of the next one is due soon then that will show whether it's the same as usual or if there's been any change.

What date was the text?  As HSB said there may be a lag but any delay shouldn't be a long one.

But, ultimately the fact you had a paper-based assessment is a good sign.  They're still pretty rare.
  • Hello @Spoonie_Turtle thanks for replying. My next payment was due at the end of the month and it was the same day I was expecting it, if things haven't/ hadn't changed. So there's not any changes I can glean from that I don't think. Do they change dates or something when a new award is given or just carry it on?

The date of the text was this Monday, so only a couple of days ago since it was issued.

I have seen a few say that paper based may be a good sign and really hope they're right. I think they said it would be a "light touch" review or words to that effect, so whether that's why it was paper based as well I'm not 100%  sure, as well as the unfortunate incidents with my keyworker being on the phone when they rang and me not expecting a call etc.

Should things be ok, whether they still have me down under that light touch review scenario for next time or not I don't know? Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but I did wonder if they would or not.

    Thanks again.

Dates wouldn't change but if your award had gone down then the amount would go down, from the date of the decision.  Otherwise if it's the same amount then it means your award is the same as before.

I don't know much about light touch reviews other than they are also pretty rare, my limited understanding (although I could be wrong, corrections are always welcome) is that they're for when things are stable or only going to get worse and people are on the highest possible award already.
  • @Spoonie_Turtle That's useful information to know thank you. Would the date of the decision be the date of the text then?

Also, would that reflect in the automated system straight away though/ the figure reported on the automated call earlier is correct or if the system could be delayed as others said.ans I asked about earlier? Just wanted to make sure I'm on the same page.

I see, yeah I don't know much about them either, but indeed I think you may be right. I could see that criteria being correct although I'm not 100%. It might not even be the correct term but it was words to that effect. I did say things are still similar to how they were anyway, some things worse, or new coping mechanisms, others similar.

    Thanks for you reply again!
