Ive just noted that the TV package part of my Sky bill has risen by £5.  I know they put the prices up yearly but I thought this was only in March of every year with it taking effect from April. Anyone else got hit with this unexpected rise in costs?

Is it a price rise, an additional service or the end of a discount?NeillB said:Ive just noted that the TV package part of my Sky bill has risen by £5. £5 rather sounds like the end of a discount, I used to get the same when I had a sky package, the discounted extra bits were often shorter periods than the main contract.MattMattMattUK said:

Its an in contract discount. Can I ask if the 10% maximum rule that Sky say they have for increases is per contract term and includes add ons? The £5 increase this month is for the core TV package and then Im looking at a further increase of £9 for HD in January 2026. Many thanks for your help.MattMattMattUK said:

The 10% increase is on the pre-discount gross amount, so if the contract was £100 with an 80% discount, they could increase it by £10 per month, which would result in a 33.3% increase in the net amount.NeillB said:

Looking at your post history you have been out of minimum term since July/August of last year on a rolling monthly deal (with 31 days notice for cancellation). They must have left the "in contract" discount (-£5) running for you for around 12 months. It sounds like they gave you HD for free for 1`8 months as well as £9 is the HD full price.NeillB said:

You'll need to check your current and future bills but it sounds like time to contact them and sign up for 2 years or cancel if the full price is too much.0 -

Hi. Im in a new 2 year minimum term from late February this year. I think a phone call to them is in order. I know they can put prices up whenever they want but I dont ever recall having bits running out of kilter with each other like this. Ive relatives that have experienced this and judging by your own and other forum users its not uncommon now either. What a right bloody pain its is!JSmithy45AD said:

Have a look at your account online or mysky app and look at future bills and it should tell you on there what discount you have and then look at past bills and then compareNeillB said:
