Hi. Has anyone here experienced receiving an unsolicited email to their work email, containing their personal address details in an Engagement Letter purported 'signed' by them, authorising the above outfit (well something similarly named!) exclusivity on pursuing a finance interest compensation claim? If you don't cancel within 14 days you risk being charged 2.5 hours £139.50 + vat per HOUR termination fees as a minimum. Looking at Trustpilot, many have. Although the signature is definitely not mine, I never asked them to act for me and the time and date they say I authorised it, I was elsewhere, I cancelled as soon as I read it and received confirmation of same, without fees. It's outrageous and I wonder what avenues are open to having this unscrupulous scam stopped.

No, but then I dont respond to Facebook ads or other such social media which is where the vast majority of people are signing up to ambulance chasers.accountantnotdull said:Hi. £139.50 for legal firms and claims management types is fairly reasonable and at least shows they are getting paralegals to do the file setup etc as they should. Solicitors rates are much higher than this, which some small outfits will charge because they dont have loads of paralegals. I'm normally paying north of £500/hr for the solicitors I use and in some cases has been 3x that for a partner to come onto a call etc.
In many cases sign up is done online by clicking the "I agree" button or similar, any "signature" on the document is often just a generic squiggle or your name in cursive as a representation of the fact the I agree button was clicked and isnt intended to be your actual signature.
Unfortunately people are too quick to click things without reading etc. There are plenty of cases of people advertising saying "see how much you can claim" when in reality you are signing up to their service not just being given a random number,1 -
Hi, yes I’ve been trying to deal with these cowboys now for a couple of weeks.accountantnotdull said:Hi. It's outrageous and I wonder what avenues are open to having this unscrupulous scam stopped.I’ve been following Martin Lewis’s advice and made all my car finance claims myself using his templates since Feb 24, so when I received an email from Consultation Claims in September “Welcoming” me I immediately knew it was a con. I have never and would never sign up with one of these claims companies, I always quickly scroll past any kinds of ads or invitations to put any details into any forms etc.
I responded to the email address they provided confirming the same and asking them to remove my details from their system since I know I had not instructed them. I then received another email saying they had identified my finance agreement and lender, so I called them on the number they provided and told them the same and asked them to confirm in writing they had cancelled everything. They responded claiming they had signed authority from me and had attached it, and that I would need to respond again to confirm I had not knowingly signed it before they could cancel but they never attached it, so I don’t believe it exists. I responded again, saying they hadn’t attached it but irrespective, I had not knowingly instructed anyone to act on my behalf and they must stop. I received a confirmation email from them on 27th October stating everything was cancelled and the matter passed to their compliance team for urgent investigation. Then to my annoyance, I received another email from them on Friday and it was confirming my lender had acknowledged my claim. So this morning I have drafted and sent them a cease and desist letter (copying the car finance lender in question) and attaching all previous correspondence, including the email confirming they had cancelled everything. I advised them that their conduct is a serious breach of my personal rights and data protection (especially since I have already asked several times for them to remove my data from their systems and if I don’t receive a response in writing confirming they have cancelled any claim and removed all my details from their systems within 14 days, I’ll be reporting them to the Information Commissioners Office for breach of data protection and to the financial ombudsman for their underhand conduct. I’ll let you know how I get on……0 -
Hello,
I have fallen victim to this scam today too. Recieved an email (that went into spam) with completed E-Signed documents stating I've entered into an agreement with Consultation Claims Ltd, including a latter of authority and 'proof' of my signature. I 100% didn't sign anything relating to miss sold car finance as I don't even have a licence and have never owned a vehicle.
The signature is clearly forged and some of the details are only partially correct. They only had part of my surname and an old address. They also include the IP address of the device that signed the document but it tracks back to a VPN. So anyone in the world could have signed it and pretended to be UK based.
I tried to call them a few times, you generally get through to a different individual everytime but the response is the same. They will not discuss or answer any questions without you confirming your details first (never confirm anything when calling fraudsters). They have clearly been trained to handle irate and angry individuals because if you push, even politely they will end the call and hang up.
My advice is first, check when the agreement was 'signed'. Mine was today and it does state there's a 14 day cooling off period but I have read others on Trustpilot that say the date their 'signed' date was doctored to appear outside of the 14 days cooling off period. If you do email back make sure you email enquiries@ like they state in the welcome email. Do not hit reply to the email as it comes from an info@ email address and they could claim it's not monitored and they direct people to enquiries@ (do not give them an inch). Take a screenshot or save every email you / they send. Also save all documents they sent to your device for evidence.
I would call action fraud before anyone else and get a crime reference number, other organisations might ask for this. It helps to keep track if they do investigate.
I have also contacted the FCA and the ICO.
The company is supposedly regulated by the FCA - FRN. 836626.
Hopefully our combined experiences will prevent this company from scamming anyone at all. It does appear this is a new scam as there isn't much online apart from this thread.
