Turkish Airlines - Question on offered compensation

Dear community,
I have a question regarding my recent Turkish Airlines flight I hope to get clarification on.
I flew from Cape Town via Istanbul to Düsseldorf. Everything was fine on the outbond flight.
On my return flight back to Cape Town we were delayed in Istanbul and I arrived 3 hours and 40 minutes late in Cape Town. I made a claim with the airline directly and today they offered me 300 €. I was under the impression that it was 600 € for flights of more than 3,500 km. My question is now: Am I entitled to only 300€ because only the return flight was delayed?

The compensation is halved if a long-haul flight is delayed by 3-4 hours, so the full figure is only payable if you were more than four hours late.
