Using battery off one car for another. Not sure why it's not listed as being ok?

I was reading it as the other way round...0 -
The difference in battery height "generally" works out to be 15mm taller which is not alot .
175mm vs 190mm tall .
A increase in lenght often makes for a very tight fit so needs a actual fit check.
Its obvious you must attempt fitting it in the car.
Make sure the the positive and negative terminals are on the correct side and fittings/clamps all work/fit .
This is one aspect that is overlooked but may or may not be a issue.- positive on left and negative on the right corner.
- negative on the left and positive on the right corner.
I have fitted a number of different sized and also different Ah and CCA rated batterys in another older vehical over the years
A trial fit for sizing and position is really the only way as asking online is not conclusive
Another point to consider is getting a portable jump starter which must have the important boost button for flat battery emergencys away from home in the 1st instance and secondly possibly a charger for at home .
Both are cost effective today and much smaller than years ago.
Halfords dont have the boost feature and are overpriced..forget Halfords your going to get shafted .
Also Tayna is easy well known but its not always the cheapest ...this does depends on your battery type .
Another option to check out if your not in a hurry and your willing to search is Drivetec batterys made by Yuasa sold by GSF which can be found on ebay with discount codes.
The discounts seem to vary thoughout the year but as a example Ive seen the very popular sized 063 3 year battery type for £30-£32 delivered .
Mentioned to a lady who knows nothing about batterys she went online and got a DriveTec 012 type for £37 delivered which is more powerful than a cheap Lion 012 battery .
Tayna is less work easier if you dont care about costs though .
Lion 3yr batterys are cheap so may last or may not last 3 yrs.... ECP replaces them under warranty so its two for one if they do fail .....they simply may or may not fail during 3 yrs.
Thing is Lion batterys AH and CCA ratings are lower than DriveTec made by Yuasa above for the same battery type .

Some cars have some flex in them, others have a very precise layout/routing of the wires so it wouldn't work. On a Mk5 Golf I think the neg terminal will foul the battery box if you fitted a less tall battery. It could be trimmed, or not fitted, to get round this.
So smaller (in height) battery from MY car could foul the battery box in the Golf because it's not as tall?
Now if it was taller then yeah I get that, but smaller/shorter, it could foul the battery box? How?
To me that's like saying if there was a 6ft1" room & a 6ft guy stood in it because that's [factory settings] then it'd be ok but if you put a 5ft11" guy in there then his head might touch the ceiling.
* Obviously take shoes out of the equation
* Sorry for the unusual comparison. It's the first thing that came to my head.0 -

I'm assuming the battery is under the larger rectangular black cover to the top-right? Whatever the cable routings are inside that box, they'll have to accommodate a 15mm shorter battery.N. Now you've said that it's kinda obvious & I get that's what would've been meant. I was just picturing the lid not closing because it has a shorter battery & couldn't understand why that'd be the case.
And yes top right box.
I'll try the other battery in & see. Meant to do that today but the alarm started sounding off & after the start to the day I had I decided to regroup & call it a day.
Have since sussed where I went wrong with the alarm though I think/hope so will have another do during the week.1
