Need recomendation for online pharmacy

Been with Lloyds online pharmacy nd used it mostly for repeat NHS prescriptions for my son. I was happy with their service and speed. They got sold off to Pharmacy2u, and the experience with them is dire, so looking to take my business elsewhere.

The reviews for both Boots and Superdrug are bad. Initially considered Hey Pharmacist, but they don't deliver children prescriptions.

Need a company that meets the below requirements:

1. Fast dispatch following GP approval. Not takign a week for 'Clinical review'
2. Allows to have kids on online account.
3. Delivers the medication for both adults and kids. Not interested in self-pick ups.

Thank a lot!

There all dire & slow. Boots are awful. I had the same experience as you with Lloyds.  Find a local Pharmacy who deliver, get much better service from them - plus you can phone them up if you need to.

Have you tried your local chemist? Mine collects the prescription and delivers the medication within a few days. I even get a text to tell me when they are delivering it. All free.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I've found Pharmacy2U absolutely 1st class - yesterdays delivery was ordered the weekend before.  They advise if anything is out of stock.

Local branch of Boots was dire -  now closed down.

We use Signature Pharmacy mainly because they were able to get things when boots and others claimed they couldn't. Most the time they are fine but did have a single case over easter where they appeared to get into a backlog and were poor at communicating there would be a delay.

Requested a new prescription via NHS App first thing Monday and it was delivered home yesterday morning.

Their prices for private prescriptions weren't bad either, came across them as they own a private prescription system which my Bupa Consultant used - you can dispense at any pharmacy but thought may as well give their own one a try. These are more variable so I find them frequently good price but not necessarily the cheapest, routinely cheaper than Boots though.

They seem to be one of the High st businesses that have survived better than most.
Although I guess you still need to live in a reasonably populated area.

Not according to most, 4 pharmacies are closing down every week in England with more than 700 closed in 2022-2024.

When I was younger and taking higher dosages of my medicines our pharmacy even asked us to stop using them as they were struggling with cashflow with the gap between them buying it from their suppliers and being reimbursed by the NHS.

Would help if we knew where you were. The pharmacy I use are first class but they are local to where I live - no doubt there are others just like me who may help.

My own doctor favours them against the one 50 yds away from the surgery.

They have to work quite hard at it - if you are interested it's possible to find online how much a pharmacy is paid for each NHS prescription dispensed, basic amount is £1.46. There are other chargeable tariff items of course but it's still not exactly big bucks.

Even flogging meal deals and 47 shades of mascara hasn't stopped Boots shutting 300 stores in 2024.

As with other local retailers and services - use 'em or lose 'em.

The odd one is they are paid a fixed amount for the medication they dispense, you can find them online, irrespective of how much they have paid for them. There is a process for exceptional circumstances where medicines are much higher cost than the list price but generally they can be making small amounts, including losses, on the cost of medicine itself.

I dont understand how the supply chain works well enough... you'd have thought in normal circumstances the big boys would be making much more with their economies of scale but the NHS themselves are involved in the buying process which is why medications here are so much cheaper than the US. So no idea if most are making small amounts on it too or if it fairly washes its face with under/overs or if your Boots etc are making much more than your little one site village pharmacy.
