Has anyone had confirmation on the european holidays yet? I am asking as I thought that they were meant to confirm by the twelth and I have not heard anything yet. I did put my details in within one day of the earliest possible date.Loving the dtd thread. x0

Thank-you Pippa.S. Kids can't wait - we are all counting down for the time out - we could really do with the break (as I am sure so could many, if not all MSE'rs!) Just got to do some 'walk to work' days to save up the petrol and concentrate on getting some spending money now! Still, it will all be worth it! lol

Hi, I received my confirmation on Saturday! I'm gutted as we requested a caravan/mobile home and they gave us a tent in northern France during mid-September! Also, you have to give the courier 50 pounds deposit after paying 15 Damage waver and another 22 supplement. I looked on the eurocamp website and it's only 20 pound cheaper with the sun on the same dates in a tent.
I have phoned and emailed eurocamp but I got fobbed off and told to call the sun helpline but this only opens on the 19th March! What they did say is that the offer is either a 4 night midweek stay in a tent or a 3 night stay in a caravan on a weekend. They told me that I couldn't upgrade but I could book another holiday instead! I'm really disappointed with the offer I've received. The UK holidays with 'The Sun' are usually good value. In the terms and conditions it states "absolutely no amendments whatsoever", which is nice of them! I did NOT choose a tent! Has anyone else been given a raw deal with this offer of a "bargain" holiday?0 -

We too have asked for a caravan, but as no confirmation has yet arrived, we will see how hat pans out.
Were the dates and location among those that you asked for?
Was the £50 deposit and the £15 damage waiver refundable? I was expecting the £22 supplement and have factored this into the costs but the other stuff if it is not refundable, is a surprise to me.
We are going on holiday via Eurocamp in April and the cost was £251 for a week, so £165 for 4 days does seem a little off. Espescially if you consider that a £19.50 holiday would end up as more than double that per person.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -
We got our 2nd choice of date but our last choice of park, we only chose the park due to it being close to the port.
The holiday costs (£19.50 x 4) + £22.50 insurance, £22.00 supplement and £15 Damage waver which you don't get back. If you don't want to pay the damage waver they accept a cash deposit of £100 instead which you may get back if the accommodation is in a satisfactory condition when you leave. Personally I don't trust them with £100 of our money so we''ll have to opt for the £15 fee. The £50 is a returnable cleaning deposit which is part of the sun's terms and conditions. Again it's a matter of trusting the courier to give you your cash back when you leave. I think the parks have made an assumption about sun reader's being an untidy lot!0 -
I have had my ferry crossing confirmation through this morning and am happy enough with the dates and times. I too got my 2nd choice on dates, I wonder where I will be going?
The park nearest Calais was also one of my choices. My first choice was Luxembourg, then Belgium, 2 in France and finally any of the Dutch parks.
Update: We too have our last choice of park, Duinrell, long way to drive, but it will be funLoving the dtd thread. x0 -
How lucky are you?!? I ONLY asked for Duinrell and didn't get anything. When I phoned them up they said that there was no availability for Duinrell at all. What dates did you get? By the way, it only takes about 3 hours to drive from Calais. Have done it before and it's quite a good drive (all motorway). Easy enough to find. Have a great time!!0

I believe that the Sun have a policy of never offering anyone exactly what they want.
Mr JMA above got his last choice, a choice which was above Duinrell on my list. As Duinrell was somewhere I really wanted to go on as a full/proper family holiday.
I got my last choice and it seems that many didn't get a choice at all.
We are going in mid October, 13th - 17th.Loving the dtd thread. x0 -
I've booked a sun holiday for Monday 7 April, but my daughter broke her arm yesterday and the surgeon has said that she cannot go away next week. I know the Sun didn't offer cancellation/curtailment insurance so does anyone know whether I can get my money back?0
