CMS payments question- England to NI

Afternoon all,
A few years ago my partner took our 3yo son from Spain where we were living at the time back to her home of Northern Ireland. The subsequent court order stated that I was not subject to maintenance payments while living outside of the UK.
My question is, if I move back to my hometown in England and still need to travel to NI every month to see my son, will I need to pay full maintenance?
Each trip costs the best part of £800 with flights, hire car, accommodation, etc each month which is more than CMS would charge should I live next door. If I had to pay the £800pm plus £650pm child maintenance it would be ruinous. Especially as I did not create this situation, being the one 'left behind' after the kidnapping.
Any advice welcome - I do not want to be priced out of seeing my child every month due to this unfair situation.
