Thank you all very much.  I'm afraid it is a bit beyond me.

I'm not doing very well.  I tried to add some information and "it" kept telling me I was 9 characters too short - even when I added more characters.

Basically I'd try to ignore anything but the official Scottish site info - for benefits - link above - for health use NHS Inform etc for advice - not NHS (England) etc - if you live in Scotland.

Many things are devolved / run separately from England in the devolved nations - but much of what you will find on line if you do a non specific to Scotland search - will be dominated by the systems in England - as that covers c84% of the UKs population - Scotland c8%, Wales c 5% and NI c3% ( to nearest % ).

This is my very first post in my new MSE account.  I used Google for information and it said that the amount for anyone of State Pension age in Scotland to age 79 should receive £203.40 paid into the account where they receive their State Pension with no need to apply for it. Does this amount sound right?

I am asking because some sites say, in my circumstances, the amount was to be £200 and what could the extra £3.40 be for?
Yes it’s correct. The Winter Fuel Payment was devolved to Scotland last winter but of course got caught up in the melee when it was all cancelled except for those on Pension Credit.

The Scottish Government of course decided to put their own take on it by making the payment amount slightly different - nothing like adding confusion basically.

So we now have the situation of pensioners in Scotland getting the new payment from Scotland but HMRC still clawing it back if taxable income of £35k or more.

    That really helps, thanks.
  • The PAWFP stuff still needs to be passed by Scottish Government. Been told that SSS will shortly get an info dump from DWP and a separate info dump from MOD to identify people that will qualify. Anyone not contacted by SSS will be able to "apply" for the payment but most should not need to. Opt out via SSS by phone or the online form.
I guess the amounts are different to UK gov payments so Scot gov can say their pensioners will better off than those in rest of UK, and just to be different, in case nobody noticed that's what they like to do!

AI is wonderful, I am supposed to have died in a motorcycle accident, having had my fifteen minutes of minor fame many decades ago and therefore a bit more searchable than I would like. Winter fuel payment is £150, I think, unless the Scots are more generous than us lot.

WFP is £200 per household if under 80 and £300 per household if both 80 and over. If two pensioners then it would be split with each getting half so £100 and £150.

The Scottish version is £203.40 if under 80 and £305.10 for both 80 and over. Again halved if two people in the household.
