Ryanair flight delay - can I claim accommodation and compensation?

Sorry this is going to sound like a daft question but I can't seem to find this information.
My flight was delayed 16 hours, we were told we could find our own hotels which I did and paid £100. Can I claim both this and £220 compensation for the delay? And if so how - I went via their online form and claimed the £100, I wasn't clear if this was claiming the compensation as well?

Yes - your delay compensation under UK261 separate from getting food/accommodation expenses reimbursed. There should be an MSE page about getting your UK261 compensation. Google is your friend.0

Ah, thanks. Found it. Sadly it says I'm not eligible. The long delay was caused by crewing issues, but they said the initial 90 minute delay was due to a bird strike which had a knock-on effect so no compensation is due. So be it.1

Eligibility for compensation will depend on the reason for the delay, so isn't payable if the reason was extraordinary circumstances outside the airline's control, whereas the separate claim for accommodation (and meal) expenses isn't conditional on the delay reason.Ash_Pole said:Sorry this is going to sound like a daft question but I can't seem to find this information.
