Classic Pay as you go

Does any company still offer the classic Pay as you go where you put credit on your phone and you can top up when the credit is low rather than paying a monthly subscription. This would be for an elderly person who will only use the phone occasionally or in an emergency whilst out

Argos have a variety of payg mobiles, that can be purchased with a top up included, then you can buy future top ups via a text msg, phone call or online.
Another option to consider may be a sim free deal (if you already have a handset). For example Lebara is £5 on a 30 day rolling plan with 1000 uk minutes.
There are various other options for sim free.0 -
Yes 02 do payg classic. 3p min 2p text 1 p mb.
Credit never expires and make a call every 6 months to keep active.
Not sold by 02 now but plenty on ebay for 20p0 -
which network would she be on0

I have one from Tesco, I've had it for a lot of years now & the credit never expires. I usually keep about £15 on it but rarely use more than £5 a year. I replaced the phone earlier this year as 3G was supposed to be ending & the in store mobile phone shop tranferred everything over for me including the credit.0

she was looking at the SIM free Doro 1380 from Argos but from where would she obtain a phone number0

the phone number would be on the sim card chosen. for eg if you click add to trolley for tnis product on the Argos website it suggests to add the Voxi sim to the purchase. You can purchase other sims on other networks but some of the are 30 day rolling and the credit will expire.Richard8927 said:she was looking at the SIM free Doro 1380 from Argos but from where would she obtain a phone number
I think you are looking for a more classic payg and the suggestions by other posters re tesco and 02 look to be good options.0 -
I just purchased an o2 classic payg sim off ebay for 20p. 3,2,1 tariff. They actually sent me 2 sims. Which had consecutive numbers. I just followed the instructions to activate the number I wanted to use. Purchased a £10 top up voucher from any supermarket and activated it. Job done.2
